I put a lot of work into this A4 drawing, but damaged the paper around the edge when I removed the masking tape. So I'm selling this one for less than I should be.

I drew this marsh crake | kotoreke (Porzana pusilla affinis) for a book on wetland species of Aotearoa NZ. This is a super cryptic species by nature, but I think we might see more of them around if we restore wetlands and cap the dairy industry.

Finally I can show this off! This was my entry for the Minnesota Pheasant Stamp Contest. It took 3rd place out of eight entries! This was definitely the most challenging drawing I’ve ever done.

A #Birdtober Green Pigeon, the most colorful variety I could find. I never realized pigeons came in tropical!

The colors on this one were tough, I spent a while tweaking color intensity.

A digital painting of a green pigeon, which is mostly olive green with dark greenish black wing edges and a bright nearly neon yellow green dividing line between the two. Its breast is mango orange with a rosy pink collar, which then returns to olive green surrounding the pale beak and lilac purple eye before shading to a steely powder blue on the back of the head. The underside of the tail is a rusty brown, with a white tip at the end. Its salmon pink feet are a startling contrast. It eyes the viewer, gripping a slender branch and surrounded by small sun dappled leaves.

Wyandotte Chicken #birdtober

I don't get to draw domestic birds often, but sketching chickens is so much fun! This prompt called for a thicker pen so I could take advantage of the natural contrasts in this breed's plumage.
