Teacher. Music fan (CD, vinyl). Politics (left leaning/re-joiner/anti-Tory, anti-Farage, anti-Trump). Taking a second chance to make a first impression.

@banquetrecords.com Hiya, will there be any signed copies of From The Pyre after the in-store? Thank you :)
Passing thought, a week out from leaving my teaching job (before going to another teaching job): My favourite fictional teacher is Mr Farthingwell from Outnumbered. Virtually unseen, but he helps Ben feel confident enough to be the lead in his own musical version of Spartacus, which slaps. He rocks.
And this is why I posted that.

Wow, the fellow behind the Black Farmer sausages certainly is a nasty piece of work. #lbc
Thanks. I get a bit jittery around it because my mum has been very much taken in by this type of thing, and has copies of it strewn around her front room.

Leftfield & John Lydon - Open Up

Always fun to hear on the radio, c/o @bbc6music.bsky.social today. Not often you can mark precisely the last moment an artist had anything to contribute, but for Johnny Rotten it's pretty easy - this very track

I wrote a lovely poem about the good old days, to go with the nice pink one off Facebook that's quoted below.

hello from Frieze where I just spent five minutes queuing for what I thought was free champagne and was in fact £20 a glass champagne and never had anyone walked out of a queue to go take a call elsewhere this purposely before

NEW: The British politician, his Russian intelligence handler & a Kremlin plot against the US & Ukraine.

My new piece about Nathan Gill and Nigel Farage for @thenerve_news in which we ask:

Why, even now, is no-one asking questions?

Listening to the 20th anniversary edition of American Idiot, the demos disc. Whoever managed to stitch the magnificent 9-minute final take of Homecoming together out of fragments from the 20mins+ of rather poor material presented here deserves a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Gold from dust

Seems @Nigel_Farage is trying damage limitation on the Reform Russian Bribes scandal.

He’s known Nathan Gill for 20 years, and claims he knew nothing.

No one believes you, Nigel.

Keep the story moving. Questions must be answered.

It's weird. There were just no clues that this is what he was like.
Johnson refused to answer specific questions or to provide factual denials to allegations of rule-breaking, while insisting all the rules had been followed at all times. His responses led Acoba’s chair, Isabel Doverty, to find him in breach of the rules.

Please know that I mean it when I say that this is wrong and has to change. We may not get together on everything (eg a Green government to enact their policy ideas is never, ever going to happen, and some of their new leader's wider ideas are, imho, bloody awful) but pls don't doubt my sincerity.
We're all always learning, provided we're open to it of course.

I sincerely hope that our government will reverse the steps they've taken that have made your life worse. Those things are indefensible.

And yet, the likely alternatives are much, much worse. As I said, it fucking sucks.
That fucking sucks.
Ie, being a reactionary dickhead like James gets people's hackles up and on the defensive (ie, me). But if you engage people with genuine reasons for your views there's no reason not to be open and conciliatory. It doesn't get the clicks and replies, but it is real and honestly felt. Night & best.
I've responded to this separately so I hope you now know my answer.
I do, even though it is a course of action that makes a Reform government more likely, if you have been treated this way already I can understand why that carries a much reduced threat. And as a long time Labour voter I'm saddened and very sorry for that, as this is not the party I recognise.
No, I think you misunderstand me. I can't know what you haven't told me. I am responding to reasons, not others who are calling Starmer a cunt or comparing him with Hitler. What has been shared with me is plainly wrong. I don't know you or your struggles but I hear you and am seeking to understand.
I don't support this and unequivocally support you.
I appreciate this but if the person hasn't mentioned they are trans or that they are referring to policy against trans people, I hope I can be forgiven for not jumping to that conclusion.
I also was not aware that the original poster was referring to being a person that's trans, I'm not familiar with them aside from this discussion. Am still reading.
Thank you for the link. Not sure why you would doubt I'm in good faith, I can't see anyone else being remotely honest on this thread. But I appreciate it.
