okay, picture this: a vast blue-green darkness, like deep ocean at night, and floating in it a giant glass teardrop, pinched at the top and bottom as if it’s been blown and hung in midair. Inside that drop is a whole tiny world—an ornate, honey-gold labyrinth of gothic arches that spiral inward like a nautilus, all filigree and corridors, glowing from a bright sun at its heart. Along a narrow ramp toward that light, three small figures are walking—one taller, two shorter—so tiny they make the architecture feel colossal. Coiled around the outside of the droplet is an immense dragon, slate-teal and scaled, looping through the gloom with ridged fins and a slow, protective posture; its body frames the scene like a living halo. Everything around is smoky and storm-soft, while the warm gold radiance leaks through the glass and paints the inner arches, leaving the outer world cool and shadowed—like a lantern of wonder cupped in the dark.

okay—picture a vast, cave-like cathedral carved from moonlight and sea-glass. A colossal dragon coils through the upper arches, its teal-gray scales etched like old stonework, head lowered to watch. From a fissure above, a single white beam drops straight down, spearing a circular platform that’s engraved like a giant compass rose. Around it, a ribbon of stairway spirals upward—broad, elegant, and weightless—while a few tiny robed figures climb, dwarfed to chess pieces by the scale. The architecture is all pointed vaults and filigreed ribs, as if currents of water froze into gothic buttresses; thin stalactites hang like candles. Everything sits in cool blue-green and pewter tones, misty at the edges, as though drawn in graphite and then breathed on. Near the bottom, a faint glassy sphere glints, and the floor glows softly where the light pools. The whole scene feels ancient and hushed—a labyrinthine observatory guarded by a patient, serpentine god.

Meet the Sumaco horned frog. Growing ~2.6 in (6.6 cm) long, it inhabits parts of the Amazon basin. Fang-like growths in its jaws allow this frog to ensnare prey like lizards & other frogs. It can intimidate foes by exposing its bright yellow tongue.
