It just seems to be a fixed feature of media culture that newsdesks + subs can do "protests anticipated" & "protests continue/swell" but will never put "protests shrink" even when they do

So there is a chasm between the framing/headlines & the live reporting of smaller protests than before

(on a personal note it's quite striking how quickly I've gone from "generally a bit of a pinko on defence issues" to "and could I just do a monthly direct debit to BAE Systems, would that help")

One lad who'll risk their life going across the English Channel in a dinghy in the hope of some shit minimum wage job instead of living at the absolute bottom rung of the capitalist exploitation ladder is worth a 1000 commentators who keep trying to tell you to give in to fascism just a little bit
Ha! Not carefully enough…

1 Happy are they who have not walked in the counsel of the wicked, *
nor lingered in the way of sinners,
nor sat in the seats of the scornful!

2 Their delight is in the law of the LORD, *
and they meditate on his law day and night.

Canadian things you can watch next Sunday that are just as good as the Super Bowl, if not better:
1) Meetings of Parliament's Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations
2) #1 but watch it with the audio feed of the other official language

YOU'RE WELCOME.

Because the Lord is not interested in, has never been interested in, was born, died, and was crucified without any interest in "basic common sense." "Basic common sense" is our fetish, not His. He came to heal the sick and wake up the dead.

Please believe me when I say that at a local level we are all trying our best to make churches safe places for people to flourish. Your average parish priest is doing everything they can.

the gospel makes real claims and demands; the gospel is good news to the poor and liberation to captives or it is no gospel.
I regret that you have not taken account of the important context provided by v14, brother.
“…there is no justification — short of denial of the incarnation — in scripture or in the teaching of any great theologian in Christian history for breaking communion, even if we believe that our Church has taken a seriously wrong step.”

HM The King is the only political leader I completely believe is sincere when speaking of Christian faith.

“The example that Jesus gave us is timeless and universal. It is to enter into the world of those who suffer, to make a difference to their lives, and so bring hope where there is despair.

“I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky…”
(Sorry, at this time of year too busy at the new profession to go look it up myself…)
