I would love to see these polished up!
Right after I finish the current re-write. Which only really focuses on character-scale action and how The Force works.

I still need to nail down equipment and then tackle vehicle scale action.

And if that sounds familiar, yeah, I haven't worked on this since the last time I posted about it.
And while I do have a forward in place, it doesn't talk about why I am doing this and what makes this version worth your time.

Writing that out may be a worthwhile exercise.
Forget commericial release. Even if I nail the feel of Star Wars in the way that I want to, re-skinning to avoid IP issues is a huge job that I'm not invested in.

Even if I share it freely (non-commercial), a non-trivial number of people have to care enough about my hack to try it.
As I post, Rob's not done with the thread, but it's immediately relevant to the Star Wars hack I've been worrying at off and on for several years now.

I'm trying to solve a specific problem for me. I have no idea if it will see play beyond whatever table I run. Probably not.
On some level, every RPG design is an argument for how things could be better. Few things motivate design like seeing another game and being inspired by what it could be, but is not.

So you make this beautiful argument with your soul, and the overwhelming response is *always* to keep playing D&D
I can avoid despair because my immediate circumstances are OK, but I see it there, peeking over the horizon.

I no longer have a young man's confidence that I can outpace it.
But to an 70's kid, what's delayed retirement when your family routinely lives to 80 and everyone has a house to age in?

:laughs bitterly in GenX/Elder Millennial:

Man proposes Capitalism disposes.
God gets a pass on this one.
I went to almost 30 without health insurance or retirement savings so I could buy myself out of debt and then to buy a house. And I don't even have kids. Can you imagine?

I may look like I'm doing well, but it came at a cost that I would have been paying when I got older.
All my life, my elder family has told me not to spend my raises, but the put them directly in savings. But Idon't think I was able to do that more than twice in my whole life and it wasn't sustainable.
Always fun to see details on how much my health insurance costs are going to increase before I hear the resuls of my employee review.

This second job might be moving from a "nice to have" to a lifesaver.. assuming I'm allowed to keep it.

And since I'm posting about Terry, I should let you know he has a kickstarter running for this How To Draw book.
From my book How To Draw 2026. On Kickstarter now. Want to see more? Check it out, support it if you can and you will also be able to order a new Rachel Rising story! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ter...
And now I have to track down Jeff Smith's RASL.
Several things I love about this video, not the least of which is how it makes me want to pull out examples from my own collection to share with Terry.

Also, it's great to look at art through the eyes of an artist who is a fan of the work. They point out things you might not have considered.
There is only one box of comics in my studio, filled with only my favorite comics and artists who inspire me. Come over to my house and let's look through them together! www.youtube.com/watch?v=E85p...
It's important to check how high the grey has creeped so when I say "I've had it up to here!" I know where to gesture.
It may seem silly to elaborate like this but, for me, it's a pretty bright line that I don't think should be crossed.
I don't want to make the choice between my anime friends who don't like manga and my manga friends who don't like anime. Assuming that I can properly diagnose that as the problem without knowing who's downvoting what.

I'm for damn sure not going to keep two accounts to keep the feeds separate.
Social media just doesn't scale well, which means there is a limit to how good and useful an open forum like Bluesky can be.

But limiting what we see based on our mutual's tastes diminishes the service and abdicates responsibility.
I dont' swear much, but this news warranted it.

I get it curating your personal feed is difficult. It takes patience, persistance, good tools, and more than a littel trial and error.

And when it comes to moderation, nothing is going to beat small, focused communities.
Stop.
Fucking.
With.
Our.
Feeds.

More nuance in how I define what I want to see? OK.
Letting my friends dislikes influence what I see? Fuck off.
