This seems like the dumbest plan ever to try to reduce turnout for No Kings (won’t work lol).

50501 California Announces Support for Proposition 50 ("The Election Rigging Response Act")

California - 50501 California supports Proposition 50, also known as the "Election Rigging Response Act," and encourages Californians to register to vote onn the redistricting effort by October 20, 2025.

Texas Republicans have already moved forward with their attempted election rigging effort, with Florida, Indiana, and Missouri Republicans close behind. this is a dangerous threat to democracy: if we do not fight back against this far-right gerrymander, U.S. elections will be little more than a dictator's vanity party.

The only way to protect American democracy is to force both sides to come to the table and end partisan redistricting once and for all. Democratic-run states have overwhelmingly created fair, independent redistricting commissions, while almost all Republican-run states have instituted maps drawn by the ruling elite.

If billionaire-bought politicians go low, while we go high, the GOP will continue to cheap-shot the American people until all federal elections become shams. The proof is in the pudding: this effort is terrifying oligarchs around the country, like anti-American billionaire megadonor Charles Munger, Jr., who is spending sacks of cash and intentionally misrepresenting groups like the League of Women Voters in the process. Is he the man you want deciding our congressional maps? We want the people to decide, not the corrupt elites destroying our country.

That is why 50501CA supports the California government's proposal to conditionally redistrict. We support it precisely because it is a temporary measure that will only take effect to combat another red state gerrymander, and because it is currently our best chance to force legislators to end the practice permanently. The only way forward is a fair democracy: people voting, not land - and definitely not land cut up into salamander-sized pieces by Greg Abbott.

The NYT said it that way, because that’s how newspapers always phrase it. They saw it that way so they don’t get sued because he hasn’t been put on trial yet.

We live in a country that (still, last I checked) runs on “innocent until proven guilty.”
