I’ve been terrible at promoting but I’ll be at SLICE next weekend! And I’m currently at a show in Ann Arbor lol
Just imagine, this time next week you'll be feasting your eyes on all the indie print goodness SLICE has to offer! Check out our list of 100+ amazing exhibitors and our workshop and lecture schedule on our website. See you next Satuday, October 18 at The Sheldon!

Mr. Slice pops into frame holding a giant pencil to tell you "Only one week away!" Text above reads "SLICE 2025, October 18, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., The Sheldon, free entry!"
Firmly believe that people actually love to have a useful little job, and we’d all do em for free if the working conditions were good and our needs were taken care of
My elementary school had so many little jobs that we all loved to do. I worked in the cafeteria (put tins onto the trays and sold milk cartons) and the ball room (lent out play equipment). Being the librarian’s assistant during lunch was one of the most sought-after positions!
Shivana is right as usual, also you’d be surprised what can end up influencing your comics! A really boring college geology class helped me do Witchlight world building ✌️
my hot take is some of y'all need to stop only reading comics. read prose, go to a museum, learn scrimshaw, wtfever. go be an interesting person first because i can TELL when people don't ingest anythiinnggg else but comics
Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

It's a good idea at this point to keep as many eyes as possible watching their livestream to make sure the genocidal regime knows the world cares what happens to them. Put it on in the background if you are busy doing something else

1. It's shutdown day, and anti-trans provisions are on the line... either today, or in a few more weeks if a clean continuing resolution passes.

Trump posted a video this morning blaming a shutdown on trans people and immigrants.

Here is your shutdown guide.

Shutdown Day Guide For LGBTQ+ People: "Continuing Resolutions" And New Anti-Trans Posts From The White House
Shutdown day is here, and there has been a lot of competing coverage on Republican priorities, Democrat's demands, and what shutdown politics means for LGBTQ+ people in America.

Hoping for the second one and that they’re so busy they do a typo and accidentally give you a raise

I don’t speak on this very often, but I urge you to call. If this goes through, it won’t just be federal funding that stops for gender affirming care. It’s federal money now, but insurance companies follow what they’re allowed to do and if they’re allowed to drop us, they will.

Please call.
The stopgap measure being voted on today to try to avoid govt shutdown includes a provision that could strip ALL federal funding from any institution/facility providing access to any form of gender-affirming care, for anyone of any age. Call.

We will grow old together.

Updates Sept 9, 2025: House Republicans are once again attempting to ban funding and access for gender-affirming care. The House appropriations bill …

Trump and Dems are officially meeting Monday.

This is after Trump cancelled his last meeting with Democrats because they were holding firm on immigrant and transgender protections.

The Republican budget has dozens of anti-LGBTQ+ riders.

Call your Dem senators, people, don't let them capitulate.

Ooh I’m not aware of a map, but I’d specifically look for local seed libraries! I know for sure of two in Chicago, and I’d bet there’s more. I’ve also seen little cardboard stands with free native seeds at our (book) libraries!
Thirding this from Chicago, where I’ve been riding transit, working on the south side, talking to strangers, all somehow without being murdered 🙄
Who do I vote for to get sleep debt forgiveness
I rewatched The Shape of Water recently and the sex scenes are so important to the story, so lovely and emotional and funny. I haven’t seen it in a while but the ones in Crimson Peak were great too. Del Toro, he gets it
I truly have so much trouble just recognizing the same character when a different artist draws them, if they’re not in a costume. I think cape comics’ more “realistic” style also trips me up- is that a different white guy in a blue shirt, or the same one??

Hey friends! I designed a pin for Game Devs of Color 2025! Consider buying one, $4 from each purchase helps to support the event and developers from marginalized groups!
I didn’t know that about trash, I’ve been guilty of an apple core or two. Thanks to you, I’ll reform my ways!
I picked the pears, yeah! I keep noticing fruit trees in the parking strips in my neighborhood. I’ve got SO MANY apples/crabapples too! The seeds are all for native plants, idk about the flowers being edible, but the lighter colored ones are native ryes, which I think are just as edible as reg rye!
This time of year I go feral for seeds and free fruit and all my tables look like this
A tabletop covered in small pears and piles of different native plant seeds
I had a dream recently about being at SPX and you were there! unfortunately it was also the apocalypse
Became suddenly fearful that I’d gotten rid of my one pogo book last time I’d moved- no, whew, I’m not that big a fool

A judge in Massachusetts today issued what I think is the first judgment against the DOJ's attempt to subpoena doctors who treat trans patients. The judge quashed the subpoena the DOJ issued against Boston Children's Hospital, home to the country's first gender clinic for adolescents.

1. Great news out of a federal court in Maryland this morning.

A judge has ruled that Trump's trans passport ban is likely unconstitutional, blocking it for the plaintiffs.

Importantly, it rules that it is likely unconstitutional at ANY level of review.

Second Judge Rules Trump Trans Passport Ban Likely Unconstitutional "Under Any Standard Of Review"
The decision only applies to named plaintiffs while a separate passport decision in Orr v. Trump applies to all transgender people.

Gotcha, yeah, I was too honest at my appointment :\
Where did you go to get one? I tried to get it at a jewel last night and they couldn’t give me it bc of the cdc bs.
