We need a Disabilty Equality Champion in City Hall and the Mayor needs to change his position on this. So we will continue to push for a voice for disabled Londoners. Please sign this inclusion London petition. If London is accessible, we all benefit. 👉🏽 bit.ly/41iaC1Z
Title: London needs a Disability Champion

There are 1.2 million disabled Londoners who need a voice in City Hall. We need this advocate to remove the barriers in all aspects of policy making. The London Assembly voted unanimously for this champion in September last year. We made a promise to disabled Londoners and we must make it happen.

Families are moving out of inner London. Could it become a childless city? That's the question I posed today as Chair of the London Assembly Economy Committee #londonassembly

50% of children's hospices say they may reduce or stop providing care altogether if new funding doesn't arrive in the next 6 months.

It's an outrageous situation - and the whole hospice sector needs our care.

My Lib Dem colleagues and I are today calling on Wes Streeting to rescue the sector.

In 5 years, TfL only made four prosecutions for blaring out noise instead of using headphones. But this is a daily nuisance for Londoners. It's time for fines and real consequences for those who ignore the rules. Report from Kumail Jaffer www.mylondon.news/news/transpo...
TfL has brought just 4 prosecutions against noisy passengers since 2020
Exclusive: An FOI request has revealed that enforcement officers are barely tackling the issue on the London Underground

I'm so glad that, today, Omri Miran is finally reunited with his family.

He was taken hostage by Hamas terrorists two years ago. Rabbi Levi and the Kingston Liberal Synagogue have been praying for his safe release, and I was proud to join them. Now those prayers are answered.

This National Hate Crime Awareness Week, we stand together to call out hatred in all its forms - whether it is Islamophobia, antisemitism, misogyny, racism, ableism, homophobia, or transphobia. 🔽
City Hall Lib Dems statement from AMs Hina Bokhari OBE and Gareth Roberts: This National Hate Crime Awareness Week, we stand together to call out hatred in all its forms - whether it is Islamophobia, antisemitism, misogyny, racism, ableism, homophobia, or transphobia.

Hate against any group threatens all of us. Across the capital and the country, hate crime is rising. These attacks seek to divide us but they will not succeed.

As elected representatives, as Liberal Democrats, and as Londoners, we will always speak out for a city where everyone can feel safe, welcome and valued.

We stand with all victims of hate crime and we call on all Londoners to do the same. Stand up for your neighbours. Speak out against injustice. Show solidarity. Together, we are stronger. Together, we are London.

I asked the Mayor if the London Pension Fund should divest from Israel. Sadiq Khan says they should consider it. But the Mayor appoints the Board and the Chair and must have more sway than he admits.

The latest police stats on hate crimes are incredibly worrying. We can't just stand by as communities of faith are targeted on Britain.

Today Sadiq Khan feigned complete ignorance when I asked if he supported the government's decision to give police sweeping powers to stop protest.

Really upset at how the appalling attack on the Heaton Park synagogue is being weaponised by some London Assembly members to pit communities against each other

Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel.
“Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally slain, including hundreds of young people at a music festival. Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.
“Those terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK – a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.
“We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“This cycle of violence has gone on for far too long, caused far too much suffering and claimed far too many innocent lives.
“With new peace talks under way, we desperately hope that they will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, a lasting bilateral ceasefire, Hamas out of power in Gaza for good." Ed Davey

I am horrified by the images of a mosque in Peacehaven burning after a suspected arson attack.

Everyone should be able to worship free from fear and terror.

Islamophobia is totally unacceptable. Those who spread hatred and incite violence against Muslim communities must stop.

People spreading antisemitic hate and inciting violence against Jews are getting away with it.

We fear the government’s approach will do nothing to tackle that while undermining the fundamental right to peaceful protest.

"The Conservatives made a total mess of protest laws and left us with the worst of all worlds – wasting police time arresting people for legitimate peaceful protest, while letting others get away with inciting violence. I fear Labour seem to be following them down the same path, instead of properly reforming these powers to focus on the real criminals and hate preachers."

Thrilled Dame Sarah Mullally has been named as the new Archbishop of Canterbury designate.

She’s been a constant friend to the interfaith charity I founded holding the first interfaith iftar at St Paul’s Cathedral.
