I am very grateful for the invitation and publication by the Oxford Human Rights Hub. This is not normal and should not be normalized. ohrh.law.ox.ac.uk/deep-denial-...

This is a horrifying and alarming firing, yet more evidence, as I have written repeatedly, that the Washington Post no longer serves the community in its name.

Contrary to Trump’s grotesque, self-congratulatory press releases, he has not ended gender-affirming care for young people; rather, as the health care workers I spoke to this week made clear, hospital management, boards, and their legal advisers have ended it for him. My new story:
The Blue-State Hospitals Carrying Out Trump’s Anti-Trans Agenda
In states where gender-affirming care remains legal, some hospitals have nonetheless stopped providing it. What gives?

I included the movie as a form of resistance, which I propose against "Constitutional Opportunism" - the way SCOTUS (with help from NYT... as you show) intentionally attacks LGBTQ+ equality. Draft: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
CONSTITUTIONAL OPPORTUNISM
Recent developments at the Supreme Court have exposed a layer of vulnerability in our constitutional order. During its 2024-2025 term, the Supreme Court release

1. State AGs have sued Trump for intimidating providers from providing trans care.

Meanwhile, institutions are dropping trans people left and right out of fear of Trump.

Suing Trump isn't enough. State AGs MUST enforce equality laws against cowardly orgs.

Private entities overcomplying with Trump executive orders and targeting transgender people must not be given free passes to do so by blue states.

New baby paper submitted! Download it, please. "Constitutional Opportunism" tells how the Supreme Court takes an active part in the conservative attack on LGBTQ people. Hope student editors see the urgency because we have conversion therapy and participation in sports on the docket for next term.

Jake Sherman is reporting that the Medicaid gender affirming care ban has been removed from the reconciliation bill!

Huge news!
@samfeder.bsky.social So grateful for your amazing work. I wish I had the money to make the movie free for streaming everywhere (also: was with you in the elevator without realizing who you are).

Heightened Scrutiny, a very good doc about the Supreme Court case that was just ruled on, does an impeccable and infuriating job laying out just how culpable the NYT and Atlantic are for the nation’s transphobia www.avclub.com/sundance-202...

Last night, I was at a special screening of Heightened Scrutiny - a new documentary about @chasestrangio.bsky.social and the fight for access to gender-affirming care. I laughed, cried, got mad at the media, and was inspired to continue fighting. The movie is a MUST! and Chase Strangio is a hero.
This was an amazing episode, and I am going to listen to her inspiring words again today because I don't know what else to do after reading the shameful "decision" in Skrmetti.

The Supreme Court just ruled against trans rights.

Join us outside the court for an emergency rally at 3:00 pm today to show we won't be silenced.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court ruled Tennessee’s law banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth can remain in effect.

This is devastating for trans people and our families but doesn’t end our work against President Trump’s attacks on trans people and our health care.

Read the dissents first because there's no way that trans liberation won't happen at some point. Just not today, sadly.

And when it does happen, all these transphobic bellends will pretend they were always for trans rights.

I'm disgusted.
Just heartbreaking and unbelievably divorced from any legal principle known so far. They are terrifyingly emboldened.
For all those that described her as a surprise, even this week at NYT
What a dishonest "decision" (#Skrmetti). One day, no one will believe it was written. Until then, many will suffer terribly. static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics...
