President Trump isn’t delivering the unifying leadership America needs.

Instead, he’s exploiting this moment to justify targeting liberal groups and flat-out lying about the left being responsible for most of the political violence in America.

The data indicates the opposite.

Trump just ordered the military into Portland, and he’s giving them the green light to use lethal force on American citizens.

Authoritarianism is an abstract concept but Trump is making its impacts real and tangible. Let’s be real about it: This is the beginning of dictatorship in America.

They cannot accept that they cannot control the uncontrollable. They try to change reality to fit their illusion because they won’t acknowledge the limits of their power.

We are a government ruled by viral video fiat now.

Five years ago, @brandyzadrozny.bsky.social and I did a story about rural Oregon's fever dream that Antifa was coming to their town from Portland.

Hundreds showed up armed downtown because they heard on Facebook that "Antifa buses" were coming.

No buses came so they said Antifa "retreated."

I just visited Portland for a week and the worst thing that happened is I saw a bagel sandwich priced at $18.
