Our signs highlighted the importance of advocating for a #PressFreedom and better-informed America.

We need to take back our flag. Also, it confuses MAGA when we do this.
A 🧵
The NYC contingent of @mediaanddemocracy.bsky.social joined their fellow NYers in support of the #FirstAmendment and democracy @ #NoKings

Marchers were treated to - and joined in - a magnificent rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner on 7th Avenue (h/t Broadway’s Ken Jennings)
(Sound on!)

🚨 NEWS: Colombian President Gustavo Petro accuses U.S. government officials of murder and violating Colombia’s sovereignty and says the Trump-ordered strike of a boat in the Caribbean killed a fisherman named Alejandro Carranza.
I suspect that some will figure it out and others will continue to find ways to make excuses . . .
I can't say that I understand the attraction of Trump to them. But the husband grew up on a ranch in Montana, which may explain . . . something? I'd really like to have deeper conversations with them, to try to understand better where they are coming from. What I won't do is vilify them.
My twentysomething neighbors had a Trump sign in their window during election season, & I had a "You can only choose one: America or Trump" sign in mine. They R the nicest neighbors. They helped me out when I was recovering from surgery. They aren't stupid. They believe Covid is real & harmful.

I am not naive. I know we can’t just make nice & all will be fine. But we have to be willing to listen to one another & work together toward something better because being conned into thinking that our neighbors are the enemy & not the people pulling the purse strings is how we got here.

The challenge is that building relationships takes time & we don’t have much of that with the way things are going. But we can’t keep counting on heroic saviors to do the work for us.

I’ve decided it comes down to people trying to build connections with one another across divisions. Obviously some people are too far gone, but I don’t believe the majority are. @pbsnews.org has been profiling some of the initiatives that are out there: www.pbs.org/newshour/tag...

I seriously doubt that. I think she just sees which way the wind is blowing. She’s not going to be the last rat to flee the sinking ship because she wants to get re-elected.

She’ll still vote for everything Trump wants, I’m sure. She’s just going to ‘look’ like she’s fighting back in the meantime.

Why are they putting out a count of 7 million so damn early. Goid grief it was only 2pm on the west coast when they said that. Heck Kansas had between 35 and 40 different cities and towns with protests alone.
I saw that one at my local No Kings rally!

Anecdotally, I’m hearing the same things from some Republican staffers. Nobody wants to be the last one to come out as anti-pedophile, but they also don’t have the courage to be first.

I ALSO heard that the GOP was going to push back on Trump stealing their power, and we all saw how that went.

I think they will, yes. At the very least, republicans are paying attention, particularly at the state and local level.

You can’t just ignore millions of people protesting on a single day. The GOP is more convinced than ever they’re going to get blown out in the midterms, too.

I don’t know what he’s thinking, but he followed it up with an artillery exercise over a highway in California, so it doesn’t appear to be getting any better.

It’s probably a distraction from something, but i don’t have a clue what.

A group of Trump supporters had "King Trump" signs and joined the protest in Portland. The Frogs shut them down! No police intervention required.

Pritzker: Throughout history we've learned that tyranny doesn't arrive with dramatic proclamations. Most times it comes quietly wrapped in the language of law and order, with fingers pointed at someone who doesn't look like you, promising safety while demanding that we sacrifice our neighbors.
