The Empire created Britain’s wealth.

Yet I can’t remember it ever being mentioned in history at school.

It means many people have no idea why they see the mix of people they the do around them.

Ignorance of history plays into the hands of fhe far-right.

If you're a National Trust member, it's that time of year again: Midnight tonight is the deadline. It's a shame people have to keep doing this to keep a toehold on historical truth in this country, but here we are. Voting link: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/who-we-are/a...
Good point. Crap. I'm 60, so 1 hour is 0.0005708%... An ever increasing justification to spend those hours wisely!
Exactly, it's completely indefensible now. There's a difference between making the news and reporting the news, and from the BBC I expect the latter, exclusively. That's been lost.
If you live to be 80 years old then you waste 0.0001427% of your life every time you waste an hour.

I decided that even 0.0001427% just isn't worth it. It feels powerful.
I am outraged. I've just seen a TV advert featuring a child. Children are over represented on TV. You already can't avoid them just walking down the road. They're everywhere! Somone should introduce a bill to get them off my TV!
If this is allowed to pass, they'll be coming for same sex couples next. Then the disabled.
With bells on! Sooner the better.
School playground stuff.
I used to staunchly defend the BBC. I don't recognise them as journalists any more. Pathetic.
BBC did not clarify the Philp policy much: failed to ask any of the key questions

- One reading "we have updated our policy at conference" is that the Conservative Party is ditching large parts of the May deportation bill

- Another reading "we would apply that retrospectively" is it stands
"... Labour’s official remarks from the party chair, Anna Turley, who on Saturday night condemned Pochin’s remarks and said Reform were “more interested in dividing our country than uniting it”, but stopped short of calling the comments racist."

It's racist! Fight back!
Same
I used to defend the BBC’s coverage until fairly recently. Election night 2024 was probably the point at which I snapped and could no longer avoid facing what it had become.
Nothing on the BBC Radio news this morning. Nothing I could find on their website. This is an MP from the party whose lead in the opinion polls normally ensures them wall-to-wall coverage. She spouts racist nonsense for which even she feels obliged to apologise. What on earth are they playing at?
Their raison d'tre 🤷🏻‍♂️
Indeed, if it doesn't get stamped out quickly and loudly my wife and I will be soon making plans to extract ourselves from the UK along with our business, and the jobs we created. She's Portuguese and has ILR. She used to respect the UK but it has to reciprocated, not abused.
How does he breathe with so much of Donnie's sh*t covering his nose?
And shhhh don't mention the Duchy of Lancaster
Medieval is the right word for everything describing this family.
I moved back, with my Portuguese wife. 6 months later we had Brexit. Now we have chatter about revoking her ILR. We're considering leaving and taking our business and jobs with us.
Go on Deliveroo or Just Eat and try and find any of this "amazing" British food. You'll find it in pubs, less and less, and it's shite.

Isn't the most popular dish now Thai? Or heading that way?
At what point do the white coats come for him and feed him mashed cornflakes in warm milk?
No name check, but hey, at least you're in the photo.
