Thrilled to receive my copy of THE BOOK OF BOGS from @littletollerbooks.bsky.social. A celebration and (in places) a threnody for this very British and very endangered habitat and landscape.

As you'd expect from the publisher, it's a beautiful book. www.littletoller.co.uk/shop/books/l...

Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.

On the one hand you have a political party that believes in the rule of law. On the other hand, you have a political party which is lawless & authoritarian. The journalist who presents these as being of equal democratic legitimacy is dragging society half way into lawlessness. This isn't neutrality.

$5.9bn = the amount spent annually on protecting and restoring forests

$409bn = the amount of subsidies going to agriculture industries destroying forests

Anyone else see the problem here?

1. In 2022, Jeff Bezos promised to give away the majority of his wealth during his lifetime.

It is not going well.

Since making the pledge, his net worth has almost doubled to $240 billion.

Meanwhile, he has given less than $5 billion to charity.

Maybe he should ask his ex-wife.

Reform UK's deputy leader has broken parliamentary rules by failing to register hospitality. So what's the story with Richard Tice, the French villa and the ex-Kremlin minister?

It's now clear that the gov't are NOT proposing to repeal the Protected Landscapes duty 🙌

A huge thank you to the more than 200 charities, businesses & organisations who joined us in writing to Keir Starmer 💚

Now to focus on improving our Protected Landscapes...

There are many people like this, who act like human PowerPoints because they never actually do the reading on *anything* the moment they’re out of college and no one can enforce it anymore.

The GOP budget is going to be the single most unpopular and destructive budget in modern American history - tariffs/higher prices, exploding deficits, gutting health care, slashing clean energy/higher electricity costs, huge ICE expansion.

Going to be a parade of horrors and they are scared of it.

Where is the Republican budget? By law it was required to be passed and in place by Sept 30th. Anyone seen it? Got any idea what might be in it? Why the f-ck is the House taking a month long vacation without getting their work done?

Dems ready to negotiate. Rs remain on vacation.

Another massive red flag.

Talk to your friends. Just acknowledge it together: this is dangerous and frightening. We have to stop burning our world.

People who feel that are the majority. We’re just shy.

And all the while the plunder and destruction of our actual, existing forests just carries on worsening
