the cat is super cute though!
gracehill.bsky.social
sauntered right past me, LOLLL

I am finding this tempting, for when my reading glasses just aren't cutting it.

whoo!

I mean, it's not my favorite shirt because the saying kind of ignores bell hooks Appalachian Elegy book, but it does convey a certain je ne sais quoi about JD Vance, LOL

All my shoes live in a cardboard box on top of my cutting table because our dog will do something like brush past me while I'm sitting at the dinner table and take the shoe I just idly slipped off while eating dinner.

Not even an ounce of shame. As soon as it's off my foot, it belongs to him.

I don't think the xitter exodus has found me but just as a reminder, there is a starter pack of accounts that post about North American native plants. These are mostly not pro naturalists or landscapers or horticulturists, just humans who are really into plants. 🌱 go.bsky.app/MWY25jQ

Weird! It’s the Appodlachia store on TeePublic, if that helps

I am also reminded that if I had wanted to be a nurse, I would have done it. I am hot and sweaty and my back hurts.

But, now I can get her out of the house in case of emergency, which is a *huge* deal.

Well, tonight I learned how to use an electric patient lift, and practiced getting mom into her power wheelchair.

Wore my “No Elegy Needed” while running errands and got a random “fuck JD Vance!” 😂

I got to adulthood before I saw a non-immigrant doctor for primary care. In the way children do, I sort of halfway believed that most doctors were either Filipino or Indian. 😂🤷🏼

Now, as an adult, I realize that there was a special visa program for foreign-born doctors who worked in rural areas.
But staffing rural health care has also gotten tougher. For many decades, the U.S. has relied heavily on foreign-born doctors; half the country's oncology workforce, for example, comes from overseas. Now, in large part because of the Trump administration's cuts to science, medicine and research funding, as
well as new immigration policies, fewer physicians can - or want to - come to the U.S.

Truly this is the “hold my beer” level of S-tier P&P retellings — took about three pages to get me from the classic “ugh, that horrible little Collins man” to “I would lay down my life for him”

Person A is an educated, trained, licensed professional who pulls in approximately twice my annual salary, who when specifically asked for a procedure, cannot articulate the basic requirements.

We are so fucked as a society.
gracehill.bsky.social
Why are people so bad at the basic tasks of their job?

Person A: Can you do X?
Me: Sure, what is the procedure?
Person A: Do X and take Y to person B

Person B: I can’t accept Y. You have to obtain L from me, do X, and then return it.

Would have been nice to know 90 minutes ago!

And now someone else is having a phone call.

Never have I ever wanted out of a waiting room so badly.
gracehill.bsky.social
In a medical waiting room (not for me) and the clashing sound tracks of multiple people watching on their phones without headphones is like auditory sandpaper.
