I literally only found out this year that the US only made Columbus Day a national holiday because a bunch of Italians were lynched and they needed to repair relations with Italy. There is no good reason to celebrate it! Columbus sucked and the events that led to this being a national holiday sucked

It really sucks that snob gatekeepers framed classical as high brow music so now any time you talk about it, people assume you're trying to signal intellect

But the music itself isn't pretentious, thats cultural baggage. I just like it when sounds are arranged in a cool way, like any other genre
