*Capitalism is failing us. Instead of bringing a decent life it generates an outrageous gap between the rich and the rest; unaffordable housing, healthcare & education; racial & gender inequality; climate disaster. Economist David Kotz argues it's time we built a new socialism for the 21st century*

Playing with the big boy team on Thursday instead?

We sure could use him (and some others) right now, but time takes its toll.

FZ obviously way ahead of his time, but he also had a lot to say during the neoliberal era before cancer got him

The first order of business is decisively defeating fascism with green social democracy. Your point that her personality makes her ill suited to fight fascism is well taken IF you have a better candidate for the office who will win
geraldmcgrew.bsky.social
She needs to fix that. But she has more business helping to lead our country back than Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and Kamala Harris do. Her bad behavior hasn't come close to fucking up this country the way the Clintons and Obama did

"Do people realize that this is happening to this population of vulnerable students?" one education department leader asked.

Doesn't seem like it. The SILENCE is deafening.

The offices of Special Education Programs and the Rehabilitative Services Administration were decimated over the weekend.

I don't know why we can't just be honest and state the truth that the needs of these kids with disabilities have ALWAYS been largely ignored in the advocacy of the vast majority. I've been in IDEA advocacy for decades, and I can tell you, this silence of the majority is nothing new.

You're right. We can and we should

Yes, we should know all of it

I love new cinematic portrayals of Roy Cohn the way Donald Trump loves ketchup.

The Apprentice was a good one.

She's so much better than most of the Democratic party establishment that handed our country to fascism, it's not even close

Sadly, she is also still miles better than most of the Democratic party establishment.

*We should be honest that people berating their staff really stinks. But we can also be honest about what’s going on in this gubernatorial race*

Porter may well be an abrasive boss but don't think 4 one second that's why the knives are out. As the "American Prospect" points out, she's a little too much of an anti-corporate populist for the Democratic lap dogs who don't like to offend their donors. americanprospect.bluelena.io/index.php?ac...

*Porter is disliked by the Sacramento establishment, not because of her interpersonal skills but because she’s more populist than they’d like and more willing to challenge the corporate interests that rule California politics*

*Her momentum doesn’t seem to have been reversed, and the plan by California’s establishment to dictate who controls the state isn’t quite locked in*

Columbus was not a monster by our standards; he was seen as a monster in his own day, investigated for crimes against people he ruled in the Indies - and stripped of power because of those abuses.

Insanity we have holiday for this beast who never lived in US.

Paying for healthcare might be a problem for people here, but folks will be happy to know that Argentina's right-wing nutjob president says he has an unlimited supply of dollars from Donald Trump www.bloomberg.com/news/article... (The government pays for healthcare in Argentina.)
Argentina’s Economy Chief Says US Willing to Keep Buying Pesos
President Javier Milei’s finance chief said the US Treasury’s backstop of Argentina’s peso is unflinching as the libertarian leader prepares to travel to Washington ahead of a crucial midterm vote.

The idiots only need to look at Mamdani’s popularity. He has earned the support of voters by doing the work, listening to them.

Certainly not "just" a coincidence. The era of neoliberal capitalism was a bipartisan project. We're transitioning to a new, not quite yet determined, era now. Major political parties, whomever those turn out to be, will participate in that transition one way or another

I don't know, that Politico and the likes of Barbara Boxer have come out to do her in suggests to me that corporate Democrats don't want someone like Porter, who is aggressive about corporate malfeasance, to win. Paul Wellstone was known early on for being bad tempered, but he was one of the greats.

Fox News is eating this up.

Have you ever seen anyone torch their own governor chances as fast as Katie Porter did last week?

Google searches for “Katie Porter interview” are up 10,000% and her odds of becoming the next California governor just cratered from 40% to under 16%.

never thought that I would be here weeks away from my 37th birthday living in a horribly racist, colorist, casteist, eugenicist fascist city in a hindutvavadi bootlicker's house with no connection or bond to anything in this country but with a deep connection, bond, and respect for people far away 🇵🇸
