Absolutely jaw dropping, spectacularly preserved & beautiful fossil crinoid (left) and blastozoan (right) echinoderms. These fossils are from the Bromide Fm of Oklahoma and nearly all specimens shown here are from the type collection at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History 🧪

Panel 1: Person 1 says "I hear you're working on a new theory."
Panel 2 & 3: Person 2 says: "Yes, I'm calling it the jigsaw model. I think it could change our whole View of reality."
Panel 4: Person 1 says "When Will you publish?:
Panel 5: Person 2 says "But a couple of things are still bothering me." (this piece/panel is a bit squint)
Panel 6: This piece is rotated ninety degees and fits to the others very badly. Person 2 is saying "Soon. I feel like I'm really close"
A second look at the whole comic shows that the last two panels read in the wrong order because the jigsaw has been put together incorrectly.

The cherts in this succession have been unfossiliferous. However, the fossils preserved in the mud-, silt-, and sandstone, often have internal silicification and silica envelopes. I think the chert precipitates too slowly to prevent fossils decaying too badly.

I can't talk about that yet though. So for now I'll just look forward to when I can share all these beautiful #fossils with the rest of you.

To take this further though, I'll need to continue in academia. Unfortunately, that's out of my hands atm. While this project has been scientifically successful, in all other ways its been very difficult. As a result, my career is highly uncertain... 3/n

The core embargo ends on Tuesday. Researchers outside the project can access the cores. We will have to race to publication to get out results or before others find what we found. There is a lot more work to do, I've only scratched the surface... 2/n
