Eurasian Coots are found across most of Aust, & in Europe, Asia, NZ, parts of Africa. Vagrants turn up in the oddest places (Aleutians!). Often seen in urban parks with ponds. Omnivorous, much less secretive than other rails & strongly territorial in the breeding season. #birds #WildOz #birdwatching

This young male Satin Bowerbird has developed some of his first mature black satin feathers... around his eyes so it looks like he's wearing eyeliner or mascara XD

The same subject, cropped to the bird's head and shoulders, with the bird's head turned so that the other eyes is visible. A row of very small dark feathers is starting to form under the eye.

Yes, great news. As far as I can see, AI is incapable of actual insight or originality, it just summarises & remixes existing material. And when a lot of the raw material is just AI summaries, it’s like a sequence of photocopies of photocopies where clarity steadily deteriorates. #AusPol
