It's been such a learning experience. And more than one reminder that I need to practice time management lol. So glad for your part in it.

Nooo! And looking forward to your modlist when you get it working. Of all things, I can't live without the DAO font in any of the games.

Made a quick teaser trailer for The Final Author, a new episode of Gameservatory dropping in November, where I explore the nature of player agency, the difficulties of game development, and @remedygames.com evolving design approach from Alan Wake to Alan Wake II.

EA's bombshell deal to go private could be good for investors, but bad for employees. Leveraged buyouts almost always lead to immediate mass layoffs, and more than half of EA's current cash flow will likely go toward servicing the debt.

A lot of people are (understandably) focused on the Saudi Arabia and Kushner part of this, but the far bigger immediate impact will come from the new private EA being on the hook for $20 billion in debt. That could mean mass layoffs, more aggressive monetization, and other big cost-cutting measures

me: the witchcraft allegations around technical art are kinda overblown

also me: The answer I've been searching for resides in precise constellations of these very circles

From rural US south, we grew up eating pickled sausages. Is that kinda what this is?

Sure glad we have banksy and a certified banksy interpreter to help parse the depths of this!

I completely agree; I prefer gameplay limits any day over inventory management. Cool! How does VIIR's hard mode compensate? Like there are no phoenix downs or potions at all? I really need to pick that game back up. Having fun with Clair Obscur at the moment.

I'm noticing that too. Just now in the underwater area and found the lanterns a helpful bit for pulling focus to path branches and each area having its own vibe landmarking position. Good point about vertical and distance complicating mini-maps! I didn't realize there was a compass haha.

I’m stealing it and telling everyone I don’t know who said it, but it definitely wasn’t Darkfry.

I’m not, but I appreciate your conviction. I’ve misunderstood subtlety for sophistication and those things are definitely not the same; it is for sure overrated.

This feels like a set made for a Heretic sequel.

Loot, inventory management, selling/scrapping for resources/currency to craft or buy incrementally better gear. I like aspects of this gameplay loop (crafting in particular), but sometimes it feels chucked into games because its such a genre staple and so a bit tedious.
