I don't think they did understand the assignment.
What was there to appeal to an older audience? Dingodile saying "bastards"? Alt Tawna having that egregious dark backstory?
Plus I don't think you'd need to change the tone to grow with the audience anyway. Crash was never particularly "kiddy".

That 2D animated Amazon pitch had such good designs...
If we finally get a Crash cartoon and it looks like It's About Time, that's it, Crash isn't my thing anymore.

It's quite fitting that the Trump administration would try to insert itself into the "end of the console wars" discourse, not knowing that the reason it's over is because the only American company still competing is way behind their Japanese competition and is basically giving up.

It's weird how this doesn't actually feel like a big deal. It should be. Halo's been the face of Xbox exclusives for nearly 25 years. For comparison, Sonic was a Sega console exclusive for only 10 years.

But Xbox and Halo have fallen so far that everyone's like "Yeah, whatever. Saw that coming."

Crash 4 really soured me on the idea of any future Crash projects, and Rumble didn't help.
I hope the series isn't permanently dead, but if anything comes out, I'm probably going to be really skeptical of it.

I've been replaying Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and even with Mario Kart World's bells and whistles, goddamn, CTR is still so much better.

You actually feel like you're going at breakneck speeds in CTR when you get a blue fire going. Get good enough and the RNG of items doesn't affect you.
