The Reform Party now takes cryptocurrency donations. Ireland banned them. The UK welcomes them. And Farage calls it freedom. It’s not. It’s money without accountability – and that’s a threat to democracy, argues Prof Richard Murphy.

Cryptocurrency: lawlessness disguised as liberty
Cryptocurrency is sold as radical innovation and financial liberation. In reality, it’s an old familiar story: fraud

Who could have predicted that this would not produce overwhelmingly positive consequences?
The absolute bloody vandalism of austerity in one chart. Good analysis of the overall picture here.

There is no need for a moral panic about the UK's welfare system.

Far from perfect but recent discourse is nuts

Spending is controlled, not spiralling

Worklessness is near record lows

NEW: Net migration almost halved last year. But 84% of regular GB News viewers believe it went up.

More importantly, new research revealing this also suggests the public opposes politicians presenting shows - contradicting Ofcom.

Lisa Nandy now taking note:

Research also finds majority of people are against letting politicians front current affairs programmes

Been a @kagi.com user for a good while now. Do check it out if you want a better search experience. But also all the other tools and APIs offered. Accentally noticed today I can request a given date in Kagi News to see what was happening that day. Nice! e.g. news.kagi.com/germany/2025...
Screenshot of part of the Kagi News web page, showing a selected historical date and the top news stories for the Germany category on that day.

"My old friend Nathan Gill, who I've never met, accidentally tripped over a briefcase containing £50,000 and then coincidentally the next day spouted pro Russian propaganda in the EU, as did I. And as far as I'm concerned that's the end of the matter."

It's as if The Times only discussed motoring from the POV of Bentley drivers. Private schools are essentially an irrelevance but it dominates their coverage of education.

Private school can feel like the only option when the state system isn’t meeting your child’s needs, but the financial burden goes far beyond school fees ⬇️
School fees were a shock, then came VAT, uniforms, trips …

In a rock’n’roll Saturday night at home, I worked on improving my #nffc feed. I can now retrospectively apply rules to remove unwanted posts from the feed. Also added some new rules. You can try/pin it here if you’re after Forest content bsky.app/profile/did:...

There’s sites that offer it. Mine is built from scratch and deployed to a server of mine. It uses search and then whitelists/blacklists posts according to various rules. Working on adding in LLM analysis to detect AI slop too. Do you use mine?

Added a few new processing rules for my #nffc feed. Hopefully more bots/spammers filtered out…

in 2011, the president of antifa hired me to give fashion consultancy to the organization. i recommended everyone wear navy suits with tan shoes, dress sneakers, and golf polos with slim chinos. if you arrested everyone today wearing these things, you'd destroy antifa

I hadn’t realised but looks like there is actually a problem with hashtag search generally at the moment? Tested a few and all empty. My feed also includes “Nottingham Forest” before applying filters so that it picks up other potentially useful posts

Daft decision by the government to drop support for international baccalaureate. Numbers involved must be very small and it’s just going to remove choice from state school pupils. Feels like it was a throwaway suggestion in a meeting that they’ve accidentally run with observer.co.uk/news/nationa...
Labour cuts funding for state school IB diplomas
The sudden decision may mean the IB program is only available in private schools
