The Doctor and Susan both tried to leave Gallifrey six or seven times before finally being succesful. Each time they were caught, the Time Lords gave them a new set of false memories to make them forget they'd already done it, hence there are so many conflicting accounts of their departure.

The original episodes of Doctor Who were made by the Tribe of Gum in 100,000BC in the form of shadow puppets, but the series was cancelled thanks to an over enthusiastic performance of Alpha Centauri

If the 3rd Doctor regenerates on Dust, then theoretically that means the 4th Doctor goes up against the spiders in Planet of the Spiders. So does that Doctor also regenerate at the end, meaning it's the 5th Doctor that ends up helping UNIT with the Giant Robot? What actually changes?
