“Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.”

It’s not your job to tell government what to do though is it? You’re an advisory body, you don’t set the law and trying to pressure government to do what you want shows you up for what you are - an ideologically driven anti-human rights organisation taken over by cranks.

She’d be taking a pretty bold move to sign off on something that the CofE have said would be against ECHR principles. I know people say Labour don’t care about that sort of thing but politics is a constant game of what they want you to think and what they actually think.

I do think a lot of MPs have raised concerns about it. My own MP had a dim view of Falkner for a range of reasons so I don’t think general MPs think the EHRC under her leadership is up to much

Ooh I see. So after the CofE intervention yesterday, they’ve decided to try and force government to do their bidding.

Is it possible the board at the EHRC after the CofE intervention yesterday have gotten scared?
finl3y.bsky.social
Won’t be celebrating until we find out why they’ve removed their news/guidance

GLP have just posted that the EHRC have removed their guidance from the website

I also wonder what was actually said because we know the Telegraph repeatedly prints falsehoods as well

Marketing phrase I currently despise:

“X thing just hits different”

Stop it.

Never mind what was just said at the UN by the UK about how we will uphold human rights including on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The legitimate criticism we just received about the legal rights of trans people being violated has made a Labour minister cross with the ECHR.

The pretzel-shaped logic Labour bigots and the transphobic right-wing media twists itself into…

Apparently it’s the fault of Human Rights bodies that the UK might leave the ECHR, because they criticised the UK for its lack of human rights for trans people??? 🤔🤔🤔

I think the reality is the government do realise the EHRC has made a total mess of it. The point is whether they use it as a political tool or not but considering the likelihood of discrimination cases being brought because of this flawed guidance, I doubt they don’t know the mess it will cause.
