If this was purely a stock market bubble, I would agree, but this bubble has been created via direct investment in a company. And as the article points out there doesn't seem to be an obvious path to recouping their investments.

Without being all boring about it, but surely the investors should have a fiduciary duty to their company / shareholders, not to blow a multi-billion dollar hole in their budget, no?

The other consideration, not covered off in the article - there is a very real possibility that the cost to run / host an LLM could significantly reduce by 2030, which would be a good thing, but equally could leave the likes of Open AI having invested way too much in hosting infrastructure.
