Big news!!

I am SO excited to share that my sci-fi novella, Bright Phaedra, has landed with Thinking Ink Press @thinkinginkpress.bsky.social

It's a near future story about asexual connection, the temptations of AI, and the unboundedness of love.

I can't wait for you all to read this one!!

did you know that right now, we're only a partial skeleton? we're not fully funded, and so we're missing some critical bones.

this is truth

and sadly not sustainable

This line from Mamdani's father just really struck me. Great profile:

“I was an Indian in Uganda. I was a Muslim in India. And I was all of these things in New York City,” Mahmood Mamdani explained to his son. And “to be a minority is also to see the truth of the place amidst the promise of it.”

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Had a tough but also amazing day wood firing at Laney College today. Was hard leaving the kiln yard after my (6hr) shift.
Me, looking at the camera. I'm wearing an orange bandana over my hair and and red one around my neck. I have on regular glasses and protective glasses on my head. Sporting yellow plaid! And very red faced and exhausted looking but smiling.

California's need to know our legislative calendar. Very few do. It's kinda wonky but when you call offices actually does matter for the viability of a bill. Folks can remember to Google "california legislative calendar" and both Senate and Assembly are same info www.senate.ca.gov/legislative-...

Our next interviewee & featured poet from the October 2025 issue is J. L. Yokum. He shares his poem ‘Where the kittens hide,’ as well as thoughts on where he finds inspiration outside of poetry, how a poem begins & how he makes space for poetry in his daily life.

pinholepoetry.ca/an-interview...
I always have a book of poetry or a poetry journal issue nearby to read when time opens up for reading. I keep the tools of my writing (digital as well as pen/paper) at hand 24/7. When the poem comes asking for me, I stop what I'm doing and I answer the call. I'm not routine-oriented when it comes to poetry. When a chink in the chain link of the day opens up, that's a space in which I can engage with poetry. J. L. YOCUM
Where the kittens hide
I keep finding the corpses of kittens in the last place you'd expect. The hamper, my briefcase, the bulk nuts bin, in the library tucked behind reference volumes of medieval folklore, or the poetics of astronomy.
They won't say how they died, but they tell me their names: Clover, Honeydew, Thorn.
Each becomes a tender task:
how to dispose of them without shattering.
The trick is to soften. Like their soft shut eyes, their soft tufted ears, their soft swells of belly and their incomprehensibly small soft paws.

oh hey!! @querenciapress.bsky.social is having a pretty incredible overstock sale over on their site!! 8 bucks for a whole slew of titles.

Plus, I know they are struggling right now, like all indies. I wish it were easier out there for the small, experimental presses 💖

Overstock Titles
Sometimes we end up with too much inventory, so we are discounting our overstock to make room for additional titles!
