- Addendum to the above; the narrative of FFT is now more relevant than the 25 years ago when it was actually written. Matsuno said as much in a statement when the remaster was announced. It is absolutely true. Please give it a shot even if you were slightly curious to.

-The actual plotline/story/narrative is, and really has been since its release, the highest quality and tightly written out of all of the FF games (and I love all of the main FF games). Matsuno's writing chops that brought us Vagrant Story and Tactics Ogre are in full display

- Gameplay wise I think they did well enough for new players. Its not AS TIGHT as say, Triangle Strategy in some ways, it's definitely a good tactical experience, esp with the new difficulty mode. They actually did some subtle fine tuning on some things from the PSX version.

- The 'updated' graphics really aren't that bad tbh. The UI (and the various QoL with them) is a MASSIVE improvement

- While I miss the old checkerboard real time demos in the tutorials on PSX, I think the new ones are informative and actually tell you the mechanics/stats behind the curtain

- The voice actors they chose are extremely skilled. The whole 'Western VA sucks' I feel kinda has been played out for like 20+ years

- I really dig the Olde English tone and all of Matsuno's works have it since FF12, so at this point I expect it from him. It makes me think of a stage play

Really enjoying Final Fantasy Tactics: Ivalice Chronicles. Hot takes so far;

- Voice acting + new script absolutely elevates it above the original PS1. Amusing as the OG script was, this game's story deserves an ironclad work and the new script makes the story flow WAY better. Like WAY better

there's a LOT of fucked up aspects of american life that funnels vulnerable, poor young men into military service but video games aren't really effective at it lmao.

the actual reality of the military is a lot different, immediately

this is one of the reasons why im skeptical that duty is a military recruitment propaganda campaign because when I was in, the people who joined because of call of duty and the people who washed out of boot camp was always a flat circle
