New Report: Maryland’s Zero-Emission Heating Equipment Standards (ZEHES) could save low-income families $350M a year by 2050, but only if the state funds equitable implementation. Lower Bills. Clean air. Healthier homes.

"Despite being touted as a critical avenue for congressional oversight," the Congressional Review Act "is often deployed as a partisan tool that replaces agency expertise and democratic consideration with political maneuvers," scholars at the Center for Progressive Reform argue. buff.ly/Q5XMCuo

Texas is preparing emergency resources for wildfires and floods. The Texas National Guard should be THERE — not in Illinois.

We stand ready to support their return home so they are best positioned for helping Texans respond to any natural disasters.
Abbott activates emergency resources ahead of growing wildfire threat, flood risk in Texas
With expected growing wildfire danger across Texas and the potential for a flood risk this weekend, Gov. Greg Abbott is activating more state emergency response resources Friday.

The attack on @frediotto.bsky.social was seeded years ago by Roger Pielke Jr, who started arguing that this table from a recent @ipcc.bsky.social report proved that climate science cannot attribute extreme weather to climate change.

But Roger is of course lying. And we know this for 2 reasons.

Climate critics try to discredit IPCC author for linking
disasters to global warming
By LESLEY CLARK, SARA SCHONHARDT, CHELSEA HARVEY | 10/09/2025
06:22 AM EDT Roger Pielke Jr. and oil industry supporters are attacking climate scientist Friederike Otto, whose
work has been used in lawsuits against polluters. Table 12.12 | Emergence of CIDs in different time periods, as assessed in this section. The colour contesponds to the confidence of the region with the highest confidence: white cells indicate where evidence is lacking or the signal is not present, leading to overal bu confidence of an emerging signal.

The river has come alive in the Klamath with wild Chinook salmon. The wider ecosystem is healing.

This most powerful story of Indigenous-led #rewilding after the largest dam removal in US history keeps getting better.

This is as pathetic as it is dangerous. A ridiculous buffoon elevated to a position of power, enabled to hurt vulnerable people in a quest to quench his desire for domination, encouraging others to join him and give in to their worst selves.

Trumpism personified.

Our comment to the DOE and EPA about the DOE Climate Working Group report is now posted on ESSOAR preprint server. It has a DOI and can now be cited!

Screenshot of an ESS Open Archive preprint page. A green “Download PDF” button sits at top left. The title reads “Climate Experts’ Review of the DOE Climate Working Group Report.” Below are subject tags “Atmospheric Sciences” and “Climate Science,” followed by two listed authors. A “Preprint timeline” box shows “Submitted to ESS Open Archive” on 24 Sep 2025 and “Published in ESS Open Archive” on 29 Sep 2025. A citation block includes the DOI 10.22541/essoar.175745244.41950365/v2 and notes version v2 (processing). A right-side box says “Non-exclusive” and “No reuse.” A yellow banner at the bottom states: “This is a preprint and has not been peer reviewed. Data may be preliminary.”

Until the EU Deforestation law is implemented, the EU has no means to stop meat linked to the violation of Indigenous rights from being sold in the EU.😫 And the EU-Mercosur trade deal will boost precisely this kind of risky trade! ☠️

MEPs must:
👉 push against #EUDR delay
👉 reject EU-Mercosur deal

A mild legal proposal to harmonised #forest data collection in the EU could die today if @eppgroup.bsky.social decides to band together with the extreme right.

As forests get hammered by climate change & out of control logging, we should at the very least have comparable data on what is going on.

If I could just summarize 1 sentence from the new National Academy of Sciences study on climate, boldface, flashing red, it would be:

"the evidence for current and future harm to human health and welfare created by human-caused GHGs is beyond scientific dispute."
