Been looking at lots of his work today, including ones I'd forgotten and some I don't think I knew he'd done.
It was literally the beautiful wrapping paper that movies came in, making you excited to tear into them. I can't imagine everything that brought me to this point in life without it.

Once upon a time movie posters told stories and set the tone, creating a kind of visual overture. Struzan was huge part of the imaginative landscape of the 80s and 90s. RIP.

His art & posters are some of the first visuals I think of when I think about cinema - an invitation to watch these stories and worlds.

few ideas have damaged the average psyche more than ‘the customer is always right.’ it should be a little bit humiliating, being a customer. you should walk into any service transaction knowing that the other person, and not you, is in control over whether you get your treats
