I'm here to do two things: read lawsky posts and like Blacksky posts. No need to follow me back.

I'm sort of a lurker. If I follow you and I don't know you, I'd almost prefer it if you don't follow back. I'm doing fine over here on my own ✌️
No, it does matter. First, we can't be reelecting a bunch of do-nothings. Second, Mamdani won his primary first, and his pro-social, anti-greed policies separated him from the herd. Distinctions like that matter; so does running a campaign like you're starting a community organization (you shld be).
I think a thing we'll learn tonight is that people fucking hate what is going on and they will straight ticket vote against anyone involved in starving people while pillaging the country and kidnapping their neighbors. I don't think it matters at all who that person is.
We do have to work for them, tho. We have to stay mobilized and purposeful and engaged.
Good things are possible and we don’t have to settle.
DEMOCRAT CONSULTANTS, do you want to do something really cool? Something that will put you in power for generations? ✨Community organizing ✨ No, seriously, it'll work. And you won't need to pretend like you liked or needed Dick Cheney, let alone Matty Y et al.
Members of Gen Z in New York City found something unexpected in the mayoral race: a chance to hang out. Their enthusiasm for Zohran Mamdani turned into real votes.

If it weren't for Dick Cheney, I might still be a Republican. His push to invade Iraq to enrich his company and cronies was the first of several events in my junior year of college that caused the scales to fall from my eyes. Thanks for everything, Dick.
But it will be more expensive, generally, even aside from equipment costs.
And no, you don't need a fancy machine to make great espresso. I bought Modbar AV heads for my shop, but my Nomad makes shots that are just as good. How? The beans, plus being Specialty Coffee Association–trained. PT's Flying Monkey can make up for many sins committed by the uninitiated.
Former coffee bar owner here. This is accurate. Also, gram for gram, your espresso is more costly than other great options. I have a Nomad (fantastic, cheap, not made anymore), which shines at 16.5g per 2oz shot, but if I want a ≥12oz drink, my Hario syphon is more cost effective (24.5g v. 16.5g×2).
the fun thing about home espresso brewing is it will absolutely not save you money, especially if you are the kind of person who tends to become obsessive about technical details
Step 1: Avoid Dallas–Fort Worth like it's a black hole (it is).
Calling out the quid pro quo explicitly is the only way forward.

Make Greed Cringey Again
Another big endorsement for Andrew Cuomo. And it only cost $959 million in tax breaks.
Incredible. So glad to see that this is floating into the establishment.
Holder: The Supreme Court is a broken institution. And it’s something that has to be part of the national conversation in ’26 and in ’28.

If there is a Democratic trifecta in 2028—and I think the possibility of that is pretty good—Supreme Court reform has to be on the table.

Officials at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston are telling passengers that TSA checkpoint lines could stretch three hours due to staffing shortages from the ongoing government shutdown. CNN's Pete Muntean reports.

I've been saying this all along. Glad to see it's bubbling up. Too bad it's going to take a proverbial bom- in the basement of the DNC establishment to unseat consultants and usher in community organizers as party leaders. It's just so unlikely.
yes yes yes to all of this. material politics is the way forward and that doesn’t mean slogans it means the very difficult work of being a real presence in the lives of the people who you want to trust you.
It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…
Wtf is this framing? "Economic moderates" as the counter to "socialist"? So we're just assuming that capitalism is economics itself? Is socialism only an economic issue? Klein et al blow so much hot air, you can call em HVAC. No serious ideas, just concepts of thoughts. Yarvin w/o the sociopathy.
Democrats are already jockeying for the 2026 midterms, with each state pitting potential candidates against each other on what has hardened into the central axis of the party: the socialist left vs. the economic moderates, the radicals against the squares.
Socialism or Abundance?
Two visions fight for the Democratic Party’s soul as it searches for purpose, direction, and a modicum of popularity.

Literally just woke up, 3 hours later than normal, with a lot of upside down world behind me and a big day of new-chapter stuff in front of me, so this one is spot on!

Dems: We’ll vote for a budget if you let sick people go to the doctor.

Republicans: Let us take doctors away from sick people or we’re gonna take food away from poor families.

#shutdown2025
I miss Los Angeles so much rn 😭
"Temu Versailles" is kinda funny.
While Donald Trump builds his knock-off Versailles on White House grounds, his government shutdown is depriving millions of Californians of federal food assistance.

Trump and his lapdog Congress just don't care, period.
We really are eventually going to have to put warning labels on social platforms like we do cigarettes and alcohol.

The question isn’t "why does Signal use AWS?" It’s to look at the infrastructural requirements of any global, real-time, mass comms platform and ask how it is that we got to a place where there’s no realistic alternative to AWS and the other hyperscalers. 3/
