Little update. Mostly been off bsky coz I've had some complications involving fevers, bleeding. It's been a rough six weeks, physically, mentally, emotionally. Would have liked to have rested but I gotta pay for the hospital bills and various tests and medications. Anything you can spare will help.

I'm seeing friends go back in the closet and my heart hurts for them. They shouldn't need to do this. This is so awful. Queer and trans people are always made to choose between safety and freedom. We deserve both, but many of us get neither. I ache for my people.

This was an actual teacher in my school.

And the only kind thing *my* English teacher could say was that she was good at books about social issues, specifically. Heavily implied was that she was shit at everything else and that is the first and last time I had a teacher say anything about another.

And to be clear, I am talking about a specific type of hippy high school English teacher who's obsession with Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey and "creative" interpretation of texts regardless of what they're actually saying defines their entire teaching and grading style.
