Absolutely agree there. Lurkers are the back bone of any good stream. Since twitch changed how viewers are counted, I’ve lost about 20% of myview count, despite my internal tracked metrics staying the same. Corporate greed from the advertising side I think.

I made a most wanted system for my stream, and anything you do in my stream counts for it. Chatting, lurking, using redeems etc. If you build a system that people want to interact with, they won’t need to be dragged out of the shadows.

Not a terrible idea in theory, but calling out specific lurkers by name is a recipe to make someone feel uncomfortable. Some people just want to watch the show and not be called out. My fix would be to have this system tied only to people who have actually participated in chat that stream.

I turned my Twitch Chat into a surveillance state.

I perform Lurker Checks at random times, where I randomly select a viewer and see if they have chatted.

If they have not chat, they are exploded.

The chat panopticon has become real.
