This young man has just been on the news.

He’s right, CPR should be taught in Scotland’s schools. There’s a HWB outcome for it. If you look in enough cupboards you’ll probably find practice dummies. British Heart Foundation has resources.

He suggests 1 PE lesson. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Could I have saved my parents' lives if I'd been taught CPR?
Cameron McGerr lost both his parents and is campaigning to have life-saving first aid taught in schools.

I know all parenting comes with challenges

That the teenage years are particularly "goal-post moving"

That puberty & adolescence add extra spice

But having two AuDHD children who struggle to leave their beds / bedrooms, who don't engage in school or social activities, who want ....

Yesterday a council argued in court that islanders have no right to be consulted on the location of a new school, despite that decision having generational consequences.

No matter who loses this case, nobody wins.

A political solution is needed.

It's time for a political solution to the Mull school saga
Plans to build a new school on Mull have become so controversial that just pressing ahead is no longer an option, no matter who wins the legal…

“The number of pupils in Scottish schools with additional support needs (ASN) is likely to rise again when figures are published later this year, education secretary Jenny Gilruth has said.” Unmet needs I would argue increases likelihood of relative poverty. More misery on the way.

We can’t let this happen here.

The chump administration has gutted Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services in the Dept of Education.

This department is responsible for ensuring that 7.5M children are not discriminated against & are treated fairly within the public school system.

October holidays. Kids off school. Stressed about what to do to entertain them everyday. Costs more for food, entertainment, heating, right? Juggling time off work. Now imagine it 52 weeks a year for 4 years with one hour education a week. What impact would that have on your family?

I am presenting at The Gestalt Language Processors Conference 2025 with Cathy Shilling from The Speech Den this week. We will be exploring all things GLP and Monotropism related. This is one of our summary slides.
Find out more: registration.glpconference.co.uk/glp25
Infographic titled “Gestalt Language Processing Reframed: Monotropism, Interests & Connection.”
It contrasts a Deficit View of GLPs & Autism (left column, red boxes) with a Monotropism Informed Neuroaffirming Reframe (right column, green boxes), using arrows to show each shift in understanding:

Deficit View: Echolalia = lack of intent or understanding and meaningless repetition
Reframe: Echolalia = communication, grounded in deep attentional and emotional resonance

Deficit View: Scripts are rigid or blocking progress
Reframe: Scripts are anchors from which meaningful communication can emerge

Deficit View: GLPs have delayed or disordered language
Reframe: GLPs uniquely acquire language deeply and relationally through attentional processing

Deficit View: Structured analytic interventions needed to fix and cure
Reframe: Trust and connection support shared flow and communication

Deficit View: Redirecting attention and distractions help
Reframe: Allowing time and space for passions and processing is regulating

At the bottom, it says:

Sunday

Pre-Monday anxiety kicks in
The tension is palpable
Innocent questions get barely a grumble in response
Zero eye contact, smiles, lightness
The atmosphere is heavy, sliceable
And no attempt at levity works because even the thought of Monday is DOOM

School refusal robs the weekend of fun
