Front view: A worn and stained image of a pale blue Victorian house, fragmented and partly reconstructed on a birch sheet, laser-cut to the house’s shapes and into long strips intersecting with the architecture and an integrated frame.

Apparently went to the same school as my science teacher who misspelled the name of a planet on a quiz. It was the right answer, I figured she’d misspelled it by accident, and she marked me wrong because I should have caught the spelling. I’m never not going to be angry about this!

Sorry for somehow cropping the movie poster into a square!

I will say on one side of me there was a woman who spent 90% of the movie on her phone, and on the other side a man who flipped up an armrest so he could go horizontal and possibly nap? Maybe this movie isn’t for everyone but it was definitely for me.

If you can see Kelly Reichardt’s THE MASTERMIND in a theater, totally recommend. Such a fun score, beautiful muted visuals, some great slapstick moments, end that surprised me and was exactly what the character deserved.

Also: discovering improv world isn’t so different from lit world! Having to pay for space etc. but not being paid for the weekly show you put on…I am flashing back to every book and short story contest I’ve ever entered. Things that aren’t really scams but as soon as I describe them to a non-writer…

Just finished Jeff Hiller’s ACTRESS OF A CERTAIN AGE which was so good and honestly captures the slog of trying to make it as an artist, not for a few years but decades. As I’m about to age out of “40 under 40” contention, I needed this book bookshop.org/p/books/actr...

This is what courage in the face of authoritarianism looks like. No university should take Trump's bribe & surrender their integrity — bending the knee to a bully only feeds the beast & puts ALL our rights at risk.

Others should follows MIT’s example ASAP.
MIT rejects Trump administration deal for priority federal funding
MIT is one of the nine schools that were asked to agree to adopt conservative priorities and policies in exchange for funding perks.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

The new research also “calls into question the idea that younger individuals and those without risk factors don’t need the vaccine,” Viswanathan says. Instead the data show that… “it was also protective in those without risk factors,” she says.

So get your kids vaxxed!!!

Haha yeah, the race organizers pretty much begged us to abandon our goals and not kill ourselves. It was so bad!

Still mad over the half marathon I ran when it was in the upper 80s and 90%+ humidity. All that training turned into just trying to survive. And then the next day was in the 60s and low humidity! 😭

OpenAI’s planned data centers will use more power than New York City & San Diego use at their peak consumption, combined. More power than the entire nations of Switzerland & Portugal combined. And San Altman’s buddies in this administration have been cutting all of our energy infrastructure upgrades
Sam Altman’s AI empire will devour as much power as New York City and San Diego combined. Experts say it’s ‘scary’ | Fortune
Andrew Chien told Fortune he’s been a computer scientist for 40 years but we’re close to “some seminal moments for how we think about AI and its impact on society.”
