Gen X spinster aunt. Idaho to Louisville. Corporate drone from 8-5; devastatingly quiet from 5-8. Learning Mandarin. Going for a hike. Let's take better care of each other, okay?

I laughed because I usually shop at Goss Kroger on Saturdays but I definitely notice when I end up at Kroger on Sunday instead.
I am just north of the airport and I'm not going to look until morning.

Thoughts with the families of the 3 crew who were on the UPS flight from Louisville to Honolulu. We all depend on folks like them to deliver essential goods to us, and it’s hard when something goes so horribly wrong as it clearly did today. 😢
It's a good question. I haven't thought about how long UPS will be impacted vs SDF/commercial flights.
Awkward for the event organizers though to keep going while everyone was getting "shelter in place" warnings on their phones. They wrapped up the event early.
Yes, I was downtown, not very near the crash site itself.
This picture is from about an hour ago. The debris field is huge, and it hit a lot of cars, container trucks, and structures/buildings of some sort on the ground.

Apparently, the plane was carrying 38,000 gallons [280,000 pounds] of fuel, enough to fly straight from Louisville to Honolulu.
Well, uh, the fundraiser I was at tonight ended early.

Yes, that's what I thought too.

The assassin is now outside!

This Day in Labor History: November 4, 1942. Copper miners in Butte, Montana went on strike to protest the use of Black miners on the job. Worse, these were members of the leftist Mine, Mill. Let's talk about hate strikes and white workers again choosing their racial identity over class identity!
I think it's also important to acknowledge that there was an even earlier Anti-Asian backlash in mining communities throughout the West, including in Butte. Mining towns in the late 1800s had thriving Asian immigrant communities who were later boycotted, attacked, and driven out by white unions.
Really, UPS? Really?

I concede that this may be related to my dad's instructions to input the maximum value possible into the claim form "to get their attention."
There's not a way to submit a "my package is lost please find it" claim, only a "my package is lost please pay me" claim.

Since what is missing is a notebook and the value is only in the information inside it, not the notebook itself... this is tricky.

Ugh.
Hello, it is I, on my daily call to UPS/waiting on hold to see if today's agent can provide me with a status update.

I have been transferred to the international team to listen to another round of elevator muzak.

Now, 5 days later, customer service agent Will suggests I submit a claim.
Frozen windshields: the worst.
It happens even to the best of us. 🤝
Oh yay, I'm a Halloween costume.
