Streaming counts and social media engagement often reflect strategy more than authenticity or talent. In a way, AI isn’t the disruptor…it’s the next step in an industry that’s been automating itself for decades.

That’s why the current fear of AI in music feels ironic. People worry about machines replacing creativity, yet the industry hasn’t been truly organic in a very long time. What AI threatens isn’t spontaneity, it’s control. For years, the formula has been in human hands but can now be automated.

Today, that system has evolved into the “hit factory” model; writers refine a proven formula that dominates pop charts, built on data, structure, and emotional hooks. While exceptions occasionally break through, the overwhelming majority of mainstream hits now follow this template.
