My shorthand is:
- type-safe schema: protobuf, thrift, XML
- "duck" typed schema: JSON, YAML, TOML, et al.

For "duck" typing, only assume what's stated in examples/docs; realize the implementation is the final spec; and put validation and exception handling around everything else.

YMMV.
I will say, looking again, having a language to "validate data, write schemas..." for json, yaml, toml, etc. seems more esoteric than my needs warrant.

If I wanted that level of validation/tolerance for internal projects, `import "protobuf"` is RIGHT THERE.
I don't know much about `cue`[1], but if the response is "write makefiles", I'd re-examine the question.

I do, however, sympathize with the motivation because **gestures vaguely at the world**.

[1]: The grafana devs introduced me to `cue`. Didn't agree with the use case there.
As to schedule, whatever is comfortable for you and doesn’t cause burnout is fine for me. From experience, wives are smart and have an external perspective that sees things we ADHD spouses miss.

Love to see new comic. Looking forward to more as you are able.

Cheers!
My (non-gendered) dude, I have loved your work for lover a decade. I bought FRXI on the PS2 because it was in your comic (and I’m a huge FF nerd).

I want, in order of importance: you to be safe, happy, and making comics.
Also, not sure why the picture is so dark... it shows up fine in Preview (which I used to export it from texts). Very strange.
Vet sent us home with some anti-inflammatories and pain meds to make her more comfortable.

She trips and falls and gets meds. I trip and fall and I get called a klutzy bastard!

Life is not fair!!! UNFAIR I SAY!!!!!
Took her into the vet yesterday evening after she took a tumble. Turns out it's nothing serious; slight inflammation (possibly because of the fall) and a small wound on her rear foot. Because of the wound, she gets THE CONE OF SHAME!!!!!
I’m betting it doesn’t do anything for tinnitus. Happy to lose that bet.

It is deeply immoral that cashiers in the US are not allowed to sit.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
My pivot to audiobooks is an explicit move to avoid podcasts containing current events. I used to confidently declare it's better to be knowledgeable and unhappy than ignorant and happy.

I'm more knowledgeable than past me and I have some feedback....

Dammit! I just got to work and now my screen is all blurry!
A few weeks ago, that was me with DCC. Now it's me with Millennial Mage.

how *would* you explain this. "imagine if the only company making serious investments in JavaScript was, like, Mailchimp, and the language's only killer app/framework was written by JK Rowling, whose own business was utterly insignificant"

is there a good explainer out there for the Ruby Central stuff for somebody not very familiar with the ecosystem?
I love Bit Brigade and loved watching them perform Legend of Zelda and Castlevania in person.

I also think @magfest.org should have chosen a different musical guest.
You are either a fool, a stooge, or both. Step down so someone can lead who understands democracy is more important than decorum and people are more important than donations.

@steveinskeep.bsky.social as a sustaining member of @opb.org I'm extremely disappointed that you and @npr.org chose to platform the book tour of one of the folks that lead to your organization being defunded.

Why should I keep funding NPR if they keep bringing this nonsense to my breakfast table?
I hate it when autocorrect does that! Keeps changing “I love you, sweetie” to “WHY ARE YPU THREATENING ME?!?!?”

Technology is weird!
Been a while since I reread this. Good thing I have the hard cover on my bookshelf. Thanks for the reminder!
