New findings in Science offer insights into Wyoming’s “dinosaur mummies,” revealing that the stunningly preserved skin, spikes, and hooves of duck-billed dinosaurs are not fossilized flesh at all, but delicate clay molds formed by microbes as the creatures decayed. https://scim.ag/47DYjBi

The Cygnus Loop (SH-103) supernova remnant is over 120 light years in diameter, expanding at ~0.5 million mph. This is an update of my earlier post from 2 spectral bands to 3. This is a SHO image which renders ionized Sulfur(reds), Hydrogen(yellows) and Oxygen (blues).

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon).

Nikon D850, Nikkor 180mm AI-S, f/4, ISO 200, 120 sec.

The original had numerous satellite tracks so I used the Remove tool in Photoshop and had it remove "wires and cables" and it worked--but did take out a few stars as well.

A 25x30s image captured 24 hours ago with an Askar SQA55 imaging rig (skymaps.com/ir0/). It shows comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) near the Eagle Nebula (M16). The green glow of the comet's coma contrasts beautifully with the pink colour of the nebula. 🔭 🧪
