Here’s a short thread of some of the pieces i’ve written on Lynch over the years.

This one’s from 3 years ago on my favortite of his films, Lost Highway, and the lengths that abusive men will go to see themselves as the hero of their own story. www.storyscreenpresents.com/post/deadly-...

I don’t recommend this to anybody because it’s such a very particular flavor, but it was my favorite movie of that year

I just saw someone use the abbreviation “AI;DR” and I’ll be laughing for a while.

I got to read an advance copy of Tim’s book and loved it. He isn’t dishy about his career (aside from some pointed remarks about his co-stars in Oscar), but he covers most everything he did, and shares quite a lot about about his family and upbringing. Glad to see him get to take this victory lap.

I absolutely loved having this long conversation with Tim Curry, whose memoir comes out Tuesday. He told terrific stories about, among others, Meat Loaf, Ivana Trump, John Huston, Truman Capote, and Miss Piggy. What a life! www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
Tim Curry Does the Time Warp
The actor and singer discusses the origins of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” his relationship with David Bowie, and the joy of working with Miss Piggy.

Re-posting my very long appreciation thread from 7 months ago about the episode of Twin Peaks that Diane Keaton directed.

Short version: I think her work on this episode is very underrated!
connorratliff.bsky.social
February 9, 1991: Diane Keaton's episode of Twin Peaks airs. (S2E15)

It is often cited as one of the worst episodes of the entire series (I disagree -- I think S2E12 is the worst!) but I personally think Keaton's direction is fun.

I am gonna do a thread now of GIFs & clips, all from that episode.

Lost ten minutes trying to leave the house because a little bug flew into my eye and I somehow blinked it under my eyelid.

writing "are AI actresses virgins?" on the chalkboard in the philosophy grad lounge, grinding all work in the department to a halt

I'm sorry: "if I wish to see a virgin on-screen"?
My Favorite Actress Is Not Human
Tilly Norwood doesn’t need a hairstylist, has no regrettable posts, and if you wish to see a virgin on-screen, this is one of your better chances. That’s because she’s AI.

A picture of some AI girl standing on an AI landscape with an AI monster behind her. I'm gonna be so real: she looks about 14

I did spend a lot of this season telling folks that, as bad as things looked at times, this year would probably still shake out alright for the Mets.

I stand corrected.

Even knowing what the reveal was going to be, “One got out” has such chilling implications for exactly how this turn will play out.

Did everyone already know that placing a wooden across the opening of a boiling pot will stop it from boiling over? Was just advised to do it with pasta on an electric stove I wasn’t used to, and it worked immediately, like some kind of witchcraft. I’ve read how it works and still don’t believe it.

I like that season 1 of Alien: Earth was Jurassic Park and, it looks like, at least part of Season 2 will be Weekend at Bernie’s.

I had been meaning to get around to this for years, but hadn’t really prioritized it because I had just assumed it was one of Jeunet’s films that was in French. Nope. Instead it’s unusually American and reminds me more than a little of Danny Boyle’s Millions.
