Our bats in Alberta are big insect-consumers - a non-paying job that benefits agriculture and forestry by reducing the costs of pest control. By reducing the amounts of pesticides used on the landscape - WE benefit by improved health outcomes. Over-looked and underappreciated - many people do not understand how important these little insectivores are in our daily lives. But boy oh boy are they awesome! Despite the chaos of moving back to the UK this week, I managed to squeeze in a bit of trapping. We caught and ringed five bats of three species before the temperature dropped and ended the survey early. 🦇

Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy denied reports that the heating season will start on 1 Nov .
Local authorities decide when to begin heating — once the average temperature stays below +8°C for 3+ days.
The 1 Nov date in the Cabinet’s resolution refers only to gas market rules.

I didn't know about this painting's existence "Autumn Hunting of Yuan people" & it is marvelous, to say the least.

Smarter ppl are commenting on the exact date etc but Peking Inst says it is 1 of only 2 paintings of Yuan hunt - other being Kublai's.
