it's hard to confine such beautiful objects, made to take pictures, to a shelf.

i still hold my broken EE-S every once in a while and look through the viewfinder.

sorry to hear about the lost film!

something tells me the ever increasing police use of live facial recognition alongside the government making moves to restrict mask-wearing isn't coincidental
of course it’s worse, as you said, since under the digital surveillance model the enforcer, and the rules, can change as time moves forward, so now the pressure is not relieved with time, since old ‘infractions’ can be found and punished as if you committed them today
my initial reaction is to say that panopticon as metaphor is dead, since you are observed at all times, and the only question is one of “how certain the punishment and how severe?”.

i actually panopticon as a metaphor is still useful since the psychological effect is the similar
it is such a confluence of tech, the broad social movements we saw (anti-mask movements as cover), and fascism all working towards the will of the powerful.

i am also struck with how little societies care for consent in this way. when did we offer our likenesses up to ‘tech’, to be used against us?

#filmphotography folks, can I get a little input? Light leaks in the Yashica Mat 124G or did I do something to expose the film while loading it? This pattern appears at the edges of most frames on the roll. this is only the fourth roll I’ve run through this camera. Never seen this before.
i hope that good light and inspiration find you! (or if you can generate them, so much the better). i always end up looking at still life in an attempt to inspire myself. instead Weston’s shells haunt me.
fooling around on my porch this morning with the spotmatic and the new Kodak 200 speed film. long exposures and light trails. 29/36 completed for this roll.

Ok, if those of you who scan negatives, i have a question for ya.
All I have done to the following image is darken it a little. If you look at the leaves, something is off. Every negative I have, the leaves show up the same way.
Any thoughts on why they look like that?
