Relationship between fire severity (dNBR, x axis) and early postfire recovery (y axis) for the different vegetation types affected in the Bermeja, Culebra and Hurdes wildfires (Spain). A: based on the Spanish Forest Map (MFE) data; B: based on the Spanish National Inventory (IFN). Dashed lines correspond to global means.
I had that happen to me when a fellow student transposed 2 digits of his ID so when the registrar was processing add slips week 4, I suddenly ended up with 4 extra classes I had never heard of or attended!

I had no idea until I got my grades as I had no need to check after the first week.
For me, the hardest part is turning away books with AI covers. So many great memoirs and stories are tarnished with such asinine crap and authors need to know that there is a large segment of their audience who will walk away from that. A plain cover with words is much more preferable.

I know I'm getting closer to the end, and I'll have more reflections later, especially about the contrast between the two Captains - and the eventual climax and denouement of the story. But for now I'm enjoying the ride!

and setting for each one. All told it's been a good read though! And a good look at the war in the Pacific from the aspect of the amphibious navy - not just one element of the APA, but also the beach party, the LCVP boat crews, the medical team, the chaplain, and more.
story forward. Some are humorous, some are devastatingly sad, some come back chapters later, and some are a little predictable, but you know what? Most really aren't.

The changing POVs isn't disorienting either, as the author does a great job establishing who is talking, and the right feeling...
Still working my way through the book. It's almost a collection of short stories at times, with people randomly introduced, their story told, and then they fade away. There are a few central characters, but it feels like a long running tv show more than a movie - episodic while still moving the...
