I worked for a small food pantry for a while. The can of beans you paid $1 for would cost us 20 cents through our connections.

Give money directly if you can. You can literally multiply the amount of food your donation can provide by 3-5x just by giving cash directly.
If you can afford it, a *monetary* donation (it goes a lot farther!) to your local food bank would be a most excellent thing to do right now.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

The Maine primary is in what, June? People really wanna die on the unrepentant Nazi tattoo hill instead of, idk, using the next eight months to support somebody else?
These are sooooo adorable.
I love them. One of my favorite birds, though I don't see the red-breasted often

Since others have mentioned, and I should have--no, these candidates should not all be white, by any means. Without also expecting POC to handle all of the burdens of change without support.

PSA to all authors affected by the Anthropic settlement: You don't have to file your claim right now. You have until March 2026 to do so. My agent advised that I should wait a little while and let things shake out. You *can* file now but it won't hurt to wait a bit and it might benefit you.

Bernie could just have said, I have more information now and I don't think this person should be a Senator. Folks aren't calling for the man to be imprisoned. They are saying he shouldn't be elevated to a position of power.

Recently I taught a class that discussed hybrid publishing, and it made me realize that some writers believe paying a hybrid will relieve them of marketing and promoting their book. Unhappy wake-up call: it doesn't matter how you publish. You still have to market and promote if you want sales.
They nested occasionally on the next building to mine in Washington Heights. One time I even saw the super fluffy fledglings =)

I'm still working on this proposal. But before I get back to it:

I want to follow my annual tradition of sharing this essay I wrote about my grandfather's favorite Halloween tradition in 2019 -
