How to use your Time Machine for good
I understand the critiques of these sort of actions from the left, but what I think they don’t appreciate enough is how mass protest serves as both a training ground for those already engaged and a permissive activating space for those on the fence.

Táíwò’s point here speaks to both.
we should all go out on October 18 and it's good that so many of us are planning to. but we should all start talking to each other about what we're going to do next, too - what we will withhold together if the abuses continue. we can go on offense, too!

Why Protests Should Be Promises

🚨The war on Antifa has begun, with the FBI canvassing informants for insights on the group, scrutinizing financial records and gathering intelligence on left-wing affinity groups, sources tell me:

I personally think it’s a bad idea to return people of color and anti-racists back into the hands of revanchist Confederate apologists and white supremacists.

The antifa concept can be traced to Arditi del Popolo movement, an Italian anti-fascist group that was founded in 1921 for the purpose of defending working-class people and institutions from the assault of Mussolini’s blackshirts.

I choose to believe the Pope, as a diehard Sox fan, is talking shit to a Cubs fan here. And I’m all for it.

Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.
We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism.

I’d like to thank Republicans for drawing way more attention to these protests than would have been given had they chosen to ignore them. Streisand Effect in full swing.

See you all out there on Saturday.
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.
Not at all surprising that these are the products of a decade of Trump’s corrosive effects on civic and social norms.
POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

He stopped at Salt River Bay on St. Croix to refill his water supply, mistaking it for a freshwater estuary. Instead, he found hostile Arawak people who by then were more than familiar with his depredations on Hispaniola. They attacked the landing party and forced them back to sea.
The only part of the United States Columbus ever stepped foot in is Puerto Rico.

Columbus landed in PR on November 19, 1493, during his 2nd voyage, naming it San Juan Bautista (after John the Baptist).
He also did a brief visit to St. Croix.
