Nothing says child protection like legislative capture and using mob tactics to drive people away from websites you don't approve.

Calling it know their will be countries who's entire selling point is they don't do Age verification. They will market themselves to VPNs providers and web hosts.

Note that Ofcom is actively encouraging sites to geoblock UK users if they don't want to absorb the costs of implementing age assurance or other regulatory demands. Effectively, population-wide censorship – but it gets those sites off Ofcom's plate, no court order required.

Monitoring services which take steps to stop UK users from accessing them

In response to our enforcement action, providers of some services have taken steps to prevent people in the UK from accessing their sites – such as by 'geoblocking' access from UK IP addresses – instead of implementing the safety measures under our Codes. This has significantly reduced the likelihood that people in the UK will be exposed to any illegal or harmful content.

Four file-sharing services investigated under our CSAM enforcement programme – Krakenfiles, Nippydrive, Nippyshare, Nippyspace – have taken this approach in response to our investigations, and as a result we have decided to close these cases.

We will continue to monitor their availability in the UK and reserve the right to re-open our investigations if we have reason to do so. We are pursuing further lines of enquiry against file-sharing services Nippybox and Yolobit and these investigations remain ongoing.

Similarly, an online suicide forum – the target of our first investigation under the Online Safety Act – responded to our enforcement proceedings against it by implementing a geoblock to restrict access by people with UK IP addresses.

Following further engagement with the service, it later removed messaging from the landing page for UK users that promoted ways to circumvent the block. Ofcom is clear that services who choose to block access by people in the UK must not encourage or promote ways to avoid these restrictions.

This forum remains on Ofcom's watchlist and our investigation remains open while we check that the block is maintained and that the forum does not encourage or direct UK users to get around it.

More information on jurisdiction and our approach to enforcement in cases where services choose to restrict access to UK users is available on our website.

like how smokers who quit cold turkey thinking the nicotine is the challenging part of the addiction and don't address the psychological end of it will often pick up new compulsions, typically snacking

porn addiction is like addiction to gambling or sky diving or going to the gym

there is no addictive process happening in your body
it's psychological
it's compulsive behaviour and if its not addressed when porn is taken away, it will immediately be replaced by another compulsive behaviour

addiction is usually associated with "I lost my job I can't do anything BC I just do my addiction all day"

most porn "addicts" just watch a normal amount of porn but feel shamed by it either by themselves (religion) or others

but rly it's no the porn that's stigmatised, it's having sexual thoughts
acvalens.net
Porn addiction isn’t real
It’s just not
All of the ”science” about it comes from groups with religious ties, anti-sex worker ties, or grifting “therapists”

A compulsive relationship with porn is about the individual, not the porn

If you love trans people, if you love sex workers, if you think we deserve to have families... please donate. The amount of money my friend needs to raise for court costs is shocking. Please donate.

I am fundraising for an anonymous friend, who is a trans sex worker and POC. They are at risk of losing custody of their children. Please, please donate. This is a situation that is painful and scary beyond description.

PLEASE SHARE GRAPHICS WIDELY

URGENT NEED! HELP KEEP FAMILY TOGETHER, DONATE NOW!

We are raising funds for a pillar of our community: a trans sex worker of color who is at risk of losing custody of their children. While their lawyers are confident they can win this discriminatory case, funds are needed by February 2026. We believe they should no longer have to face this on their own, which is why we are asking for your support.

Goal: $50,000

Send donations with a red heart emoji to ensure funds are redirected to this SWER We are raising funds for a beloved community member; a trans sex worker of color who is at risk of losing custody of their children. For their safety and privacy they must remain anonymous, but this is a pillar of our community, loved and verified by those of us running this fundraiser.

Our friend is facing a trial in February regarding the custody of their young children. The case against them is based on the fact that their primary form of income is sex work. Notably, the judge of the initial custody arrangement ruled that their job was not reason enough to restrict their parenting time years ago. Because of this precedent, their lawyer feels very confident they will win their upcoming case. To defend their rights to parent their own children, our friend needs to raise $75,000 by February 2026. This staggering amount of money is required by the court to cover the costs associated with a two day trial (lawyers fees, expert witnesses, the court reporter, depositions, creation of trial binders, the list goes on). If they cannot secure these funds by the February deadline, they will be forced to settle, resulting in severely reduced interaction with their children. We obviously do not want this to happen.

Our friend has provided for themself and their children for years, fighting their custody battle in private while continuing to be an incredible parent, friend, and educator. They can no longer face this by themselves, which is why we are asking for your support. In our current political climate, we know that our friend's situation is especially precarious. This is a crucial moment to show solidarity with a community member who needs it more than ever.

Some adults get insulted when things are presented simply with colorful, easy to understand and remember graphics.

Something to keep in mind, however, is that even if you're forty, you're not necessarily forty in terms of your knowledge of a subject. You might really benefit from the simplification

I’m sorry it’s just really clear to me it’s “porn is an addiction” ~> banning porn ~> criminalising + arresting sex workers.

Sex workers are predominantly minorities. The nefarious intentions are hardly even hidden.
devilcereal.bsky.social
Is ripe for abuse,if sex workers had banking protection, health care, would not be deplatformed for their work and were at the table when it comes to
-Protecting children online
-online filters
-sex and consent for education

Remove the "think of the children" puritan weopon and we solve so much
devilcereal.bsky.social
Every moral panic results in fewer civil and privacy rights.

Minorities, particularly those in sex work witness and experience this first hand, before similar restrictions are inacted on the general market.

The fact people refuse to defend sex workers is why alot of our financial and tech policy
devilcereal.bsky.social
-Ban "pornography" and keep expanding what that means ... I wonder what they mean by porn 🏳️‍🌈

The amount of people that have been eating the internet bad, only fans bad, tick tock bad so survialance and exclusion laws are the only way we "protect the children" discounting children to sex workers
devilcereal.bsky.social
Might be a bonus, looks like they are using porn addiction(which has been debunked numerous times) as a "common sense" thing to "solve" how do we solve it
- survialance (age verification)
-debank sex workers(payment processor censorship)
-criminalize soliciting sex work(sesta/fosta)

Seeing veteran artists/Animators selling their storyboards, roughs and thumbnails is indicative of the current job market

Journalists going independant to meet the current moment, and more art school graduates entering a post sora 2 world

I believe know more than ever we need to be supportive 💸
devilcereal.bsky.social
people are suffering because we are taught asking for money or outright monetizing our work/skill is a sign of failure.

It's been rough in the art/media/ journalism side and I am glad we have started this notion that

Work needs to be compensated, especially independent.
devilcereal.bsky.social
Bluesky normalizing people rightfully monetizing their work is something that is sorely needed in these times of economic uncertainty.

I love people can just ask for cash when they are stuck, that mutual aid is seen as normal.

Seeing someone say "
I am stuck and I offer x" is much needed.

like Reddits profile view or YouTubes comment sneak, the idea is you assign "agitator" tag and when clicked on you view their past incendiary comments

if it's only limited to the devs/studio/publisher page it would still be within free speech rights.

So it's additional context or forfeit money
devilcereal.bsky.social
Devs can't block a paying customer from Public view on a paid product (even refunded as that's still context eg on a bad game) which is the problem

Steam wont allow it because of optics

Countries would not allow it as it infringes on consumer rights laws and rights to speech

So tag is left 7/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
Off platform sites, metacritic or other review platforms could even nuke the account as its on private space

As summer said "I didn't know freedom meant people doing stuff that sucks"

Unless devs are willing to forfeit money payed when they hit block to eliminate the money problem we are stuck 6/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
Blocking on socials is practical, as you didn't pay and don't have a claim to another's space, you are owed nothing

On a review page you paid and are discussing your thoughts on a product.

Blocking even if justified no matter how you slice it will appear to be censorship/ silencing feedback. 5/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
This is why reviews can be as bad faith and can lead to harassment, the fact that money is on the line. That's why steam does not nuke reviews when off platform activity occurs to effect reviews they just tag and say "off platform activity" to give better perspective.
4/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
Culture war, know imagine devs blocking reviewers.

Optics:
dev blocks reviewer: 2 outcomes

-viewed as censoring feedback
-This allows devs with a shody game/malware infected games to kill warnings.

Blocking on a platform were you payed to leave a review is just incompatible with free speech 3/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
Mindful of what happens next. Blocking on a store front can get chaotic. The reason why I use block lists is platforms like steam function, as pseudo social media meaning you can develop lists eg the sweet baby ink game list or woke detector list. When they were called out it caused a minor 2/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
A better solution would be name and shame or have a tag eg "bad faith commentator" and when you click on the definition above that tag it just takes you to a list of what they said in in the past. This allows people to ignore see and them

Blocking isn't bad it's just what follows that we must 1/7
devilcereal.bsky.social
Control was too much, and they outlined the effects on speech it would produce if your words could keep you from commerce.

We no longer live in that world and those checks and balances are for the most part gone

As users we can't be calling for such measures.

They won't be for our benefit. 25/25
devilcereal.bsky.social
But more censorship is not it, it must not be it.

Years ago Facebook(know Meta),but always evil.wanted to start offering financial services hosted through the Facebook platform and was blocked from doing so

Everything listed here was on some level the reasoning That Facebook having that much 24/25

Closing

-I don't like anti SJW content (and it seems to be dead again)
- I don't like the raving conspiracies that surround sweet baby ink
- I am tired of the discussion between white and political
- I am tired of rainbow capitalism were brands want to be platforms but not allies
