Hi there!

I write trans lesbian fiction! Pride, Pain & Petticoats is my opening series, following a trans woman as she blossoms into the woman she always was supposed to be in the backdrop of a burgeoning war! Follow Taryn in her path of becoming with historical fiction and spicy lesbian scenes!
Pride, Pain & Petticoats Volume 1 cover with a multi-layered petticoat, clearly indicative of a trans flag. Pride, Pain & Petticoats Volume 2 cover, showing a white-lined pink curtain blowing in the wind over a blue backdrop with a wardrobe.

A trans woman admitting she had a phase like that is a trans woman who is taking the blame for something that everyone else there did, because she's better at this NOW; she feels guilt because she realizes what she DIDN'T do was WRONG, but blames herself because everything else was always her fault.

But if you're particularly keen on making a trans woman look bad, you'll take "4chan young adulthood with an edgelord phase" and say "nazi phase."

And if you push her out because of that, that's piling more guilt she probably never should've been carrying to begin with.

Did most trans women have a nazi phase? Almost certainly not. But many of us probably had a "steeped in an overtly bigoted place and blame ourselves for not leaving sooner" survivor's guilt type of shit. And the thing is, that sucks, actually! It sucks for her, and it sucks to hear it.

Now imagine you're autistic. You said nothing and you regret it, and you try to be better than that. Because it's not right or fair, and if nothing else you ought to be just; this is thus a PERSONAL FAILURE of yours. A personal failure that you have to take time to work through.
desiabstrusity.bsky.social
Because it was an anonymous place. Just as there was nothing stopping the bigots from spreading bigotry there was nothing stopping you from saying something about it. And you probably didn't. We had a name for the Germans who didn't agree with Nazis but stood idly by while they did that shit, right?
desiabstrusity.bsky.social
Now, maybe you wound up on 4chan because at least the memes were funny. Anywhere you went, you were steeped in this shit. You may not have said anything about it (possible bystander effect) but hopefully you didn't join in.

Even if you didn't, years after you escape, you feel guilt.

Tumblr is full of people who actually hate trans women, actually.

Reddit is the baseline average racist place. 4chan has communities eked out in a hellstorm of bigotry and at least partially excused it. As an anonymous place, nobody knew who you were, you could do or say anything. And people did.

I think this is the primary vector, yeah.

To set the scene: You're in your late teens, early 20s, it's 2007ish. You're as terminally online then as you are now. Where do you find yourself?

Five places primarily: Tumblr, Something Awful, NeoGAF, Reddit, or 4chan.

there is nothing so quintessentially american as the inability to change
desiabstrusity.bsky.social
Part of this may also be that just like video games in the US, these are huge corporation-wide, lowest common denominator-focused... well, slop. It's not just "not for everyone," it's "for everyone" and so it becomes "for nobody in particular, actually."

I think one of the biggest problems is that capeshit really just doesn't have any hold on morality anymore. It doesn't have anything to say and outright refuses to say the things it ought to, so all it has is an increasingly shrinking cadre of losers sticking to it.

It's trying, but badly.

Make no mistake, when the state imprisons a trans woman in a men's prison, it intentionally procures her for the purpose of having her raped. The statistics are extremely clear-cut and consistent in every jurisdiction where they have been collected. There is no way around them

Can't afford it. I sold everything I owned of value to move from Florida to Oregon, everything I had. If I try to do it again it wouldn't be half of the cost, and then I'd need income at my destination too, and my books don't quite sell enough for that.

One more in the "Cory Doctorow was right again" column, right next to "forced ads on appliances" and "forced killing of anonymity on the internet" and just this moment I'm realizing that I will have to redraw the boxes because there's all this empty space in the 'wrong' column

Here we see one of many antifa supersoldiers ready to fight against the fascist government's action. While he had few words for me on the record, I am told he likes kale.

That would force trans women to be rape meat for violent offenders, and a host of other things.

It means that t republicans have put entire branches of anti-trans provisions into bills that need to pass and are refusing to remove them, and Trump won't negotiate until Dems capitulate.

There's a national sports ban, a Hyde amendment for trans healthcare, a national prison ban

Only jokingly on the "if we cannot shatter the patriarchy then you will be brought to heel by it" highly unethical way alas
