I was just starting to repeat the talking point "everybody agrees democracy is good, so why don't we have it in workplaces?" over the last few years, and it falls flat bc Birchers & reactionaries have embraced the claim that US is a republic not a democracy. Then they say democracy is "mob rule."

When I was moving Melinda from Houston to Michigan, we were driving thru Ohio & she proclaimed Yankees don't have authentic Mexican food. I said how can you tell without setting foot inside the place? She said if it was authentic, the sign would say taqueria, restaurante or panaderia...

I started with a few slow one-shots and episodes of a podcast called "Brazen Hearts, Fresh, On Sticks" around 2008. Maybe the urge or ability to make more will sneak up on you, in a good way.

I hope this one stays open in this location for years to come. Amazing experience, amazing food. Photos on the walls of Frida Kahlo, Cantinflas and I assume several other Mexican celebrities I don't recognize. A whole menu of coffees, lattes, frappes, fruit desserts.

I'm usually too cheap to pay that much at a restaurant, but it was my delayed birthday present, plus like I said the portions are probably 5 meals worth. There have been 3 or more taquerias in that same location. I always want to try them & they always close before I get a chance. Not this time!

Molcajete from Sol Azteca in Jackson, Mich. Shrimp, steak, chicken, chorizo, cactus, onion, tortillas & toppings served in a stone bowl that continued bubbling 5 min after it was at my table. $26.99. Probably 5 meals worth. I took home more than half in leftovers. Would be good for a family.

As far back as the dumb Diet Pepsi or Coke commercial where they showed Elton John interacting with Bogie and other dead actors, I thought it would be awesome when viewers could eventually recast movies with anyone we could imagine. Boiling the oceans for that purpose doesn't seem worth it now.

My professor for Advanced English Grammar at Eastern Michigan University was a Polish immigrant I think. English was not his first language. Other than him saying "It is very freezing today" one morning, I learned plenty from him.
