Fellini’s segment is best, but I must’ve had unrealistic expectations going in.

Was I just not in the mood? I felt like everyone involved in the film was taking drugs and nobody gave me any. 😂

First watch: SPIRITS OF THE DEAD (French title Histoires Extraordinaires, 1968).

Difficult to comprehend so much talent wasted in this “horror” anthology, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe stories.
Fellini and Louis Malle directing? Alain Delon among A-list actors?

The body count climbs in a #noir where no one mobster is more important than the overarching crime syndicate.

I count myself among #FilmNoir lovers who can enjoy a film like this despite a formulaic plot.

Movie no. 1, “Raw Deal” (1948)

B movie masterpiece. Alton’s photography is so *mesmerizing* — you could watch this movie on mute and have a good time. Claire Trevor is all-time great, Dennis O’Keefe is pitch perfect in this, and Raymond Burr is sinister. Top ten for me!

First thought after hearing of Diane Keaton’s death: The scene in THE FAMILY STONE (2005) when the matriarch she plays, having died, is visibly missing during the family tradition of gathering around the Christmas tree.

That scene gets me every time.😭

Despite its flaws, Audrey Rose is one of those 70s psychological #horror flicks I enjoy in a superficial way without digging deep.

It’s hard not to compare it to the infinitely better The Exorcist: troubled child, distraught mother …

But, I can think of a worse October rewatch.

Broderick Crawford gives a solid performance as an aging swindler who leads a small team of criminals that cheat the poorest of poor people of everything they have.

He shows moments of tenderness and regret, yet it’s a life he can’t escape.

Loved this film and the locations where it was made. 👍
