Fair enough - have done so out of an abundance of precaution (phrase seared into my brain post-COVID)

I have no doubt he'll be along to fight for the regeneration of the overwhelming whiter, poorer places in Blackpool, Middlesborough, Liverpool, and Essex any day now...
danjdevine.bsky.social
If nothing else it's a strange place to choose to be a racist about, if it's the same place that I looked at! Wealthier and whiter than the England average.
danjdevine.bsky.social
Not really the point, but this ward is apparently 85% white (let alone non-white British), 5% were not from the UK, and is one of the 'least deprived areas in England' (p16).

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place 🤷‍♂️

Not to mention, be required to explain how the Very Serious And Important Degrees will be funded without the cheap-to-run ones.

Any politician who talks about "rip-off degrees" but not the existential crisis facing maths departments at low tariff unis should not be taken seriously.

Seems that 'the research found the correlation between enjoying international food and a positive attitude towards immigrants was not simply because diners were more open in the first place' is based on several mediation analyses, which is... bold!

🚨 New publication out @jeppjournal.bsky.social w/ Katrin Praprotnik @luanarusso.bsky.social @markuswagner.bsky.social

We show that coalition signals from the mainstream right to the radical right shift, rather than reduce, existing political divisions.

Really interesting paper.

One issue that complicates interpretation is that they their treatment is exposure to a human-centric AI assistant (ChatGPT) not an autonomous AI agent.

Creates a false sense of security rather than a more accurate subjective risk perception?

📊 @mhaslberger.bsky.social, Jane Gingrich, and Jasmine Bhatia explore how exposure to AI shapes social policy preferences in a UK survey experiment.

💡 Their key finding: when faced with AI, people want support, not just protection
