A lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace will require many steps, but a normal rather than “special” relationship between the US and Israel must be one of them. Latest FP column here: foreignpolicy.com/2025/10/15/t...
The Peace in Gaza Won’t Last
Only the end of Israel’s special relationship with the United States would signal a true end of war.

I think they already tried to justify it, and the answer was basically “because the president can do it.”
I have a hard time thinking anybody in their right mind expects Trump to follow the National Security Strategy, even his own. So how relevant are these documents in the grand scheme of things?
Prime time network TV is so laughably bad. Who watches this shit?
Also, 99% of Americans have no clue who this person is, so who cares?
Not to be a Negative Nellie but the position @mallorymcmorrow.bsky.social & Bernie and AOC all take is: “You know that country that we say is committing genocide? We should give it massive amounts of military aid, tho less than before.” It’s weird weaselly nonsense www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

Throw it on the pile of once-great news institutions taken over by wealthy ideologues.

Isn't media consolidation grand?

Trump wants to get out of the Middle East, which is why he just gave Qatar a NATO-style U.S. security guarantee. Brilliant man.

This is entirely hypothetical, so I’m not sure why the Economist is freaking out about it. Also, it infantilizes the South Koreans.
In return for North Korea halting their nuclear programme, Donald Trump could remove American forces from the South. This would be a dreadful outcome for the world

One under discussed aspect of lethal US strikes in the Caribbean is the effect on mil-intel cooperation with foreign partners.

If I was still in the US government & a foreign partner started lawlessly killing people like this, I'd definitely raise a red flag w/r/t intel sharing, arms sales, etc.
My brother is out west on a vacation and he sent me these pictures. Wyoming is stellar.

Even as Western governments promise statehood, Palestinians increasingly despair of its realisation. The devastation of Israel’s onslaught in Gaza has taught most Palestinians the futility of armed resistance

As a Jets fan, it’s a Sunday tradition to sit down and try to watch unwatchable football.
The guy who killed the investigation—or at least said he didn’t support it—is now a federal judge.
“On Sept. 20, with hidden cameras recording the scene, Homan accepted $50,000 in bills, according to an internal summary of the case.”

Homan was being investigated for allegedly “soliciting payments in exchange for awarding contracts should Trump win the election”

Tom Homan was investigated for accepting $50,000 from undercover FBI agents. Trump's DOJ shut it down.
The FBI and Justice officials closed the investigation, which a Justice Department appointee had called a “deep state” probe in early 2025.
