I feel caught between the absolutely insane things happening in the world right now, and the joy of the reunion... to friends who are struggling, I wish I could offer more than just solidarity, but I hope it helps to have some fun and excitement to distract you and help you recharge 💜

So what’s next? Tomorrow’s mass call of movement leaders and activists is all about that. Our pro-democracy movement is surging, and it’s up to each of us to channel this incredible energy into the organizing power it will take to win. Let’s get to work: www.mobilize.us/nokings/even...

"ha ha, these tough-talking leftists are being put to shame by these middle-aged ladies I saw on the street!"

You do not know a woman's politics or level of involvement by her apparent age.
Politically left-of-outright-fash women over 40 are not all "Dem wine moms," lovely as those are. By the way, if you stick around in leftist organizing, you will be over 40 someday, too...

Spotify’s founder, Daniel Ek, is another techno-fascist billionaire.

He’s invested in AI that specializes in war, surveillance and violence, so it’s no surprise he’s fine with running ICE ads on Spotify.

If you haven’t already, cancel your Spotify subscriptions. Let’s make them feel like Disney+.
Spotify boycott: Artists leave 'garbage hole' platform after CEO invests in AI weapons
Daniel Ek's investments in AI dronemaker Helsing have unnerved artists. One called Spotify a "violent armageddon portal."

Gentle reminder that should a general strike happen, it’s crucial to plan and establish robust networks of community care.

There will be people, especially within the disability community, who can’t participate.

Who have needs that must be met.

Let’s make sure we figure out how to include them!

We forged so many connections and laid so much groundwork today. Don't let No Kings 2 be the extent of your engagement with resistance work. Let it be the first step. We're here to support you. It's us, the American People, that get to save us from tyranny. The future of this nation belongs to us.
I want people to also keep in mind the millions of conversations that also happened today. Spreading even more action, plans, connections, and resources to get more awareness and activity in motion.

When the organizers do a total headcount of NoKings2, I hope they remember to count the many online events that were held today for disabled folks - including long Covid folks - who couldn't be with us in person. Online rallies are real rallies. @50501movement.bsky.social @indivisible.org

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.
Yeah, it's just something that builds up over time when you've seen too much, and surgery is almost always used to mock/undermine/dehumanise... so even when a fan brings up in a very neutral way that there may have been some subtle procedures, I can understand why people bristle.
I have thoughts about this and I ended up writing too much, so I'm gonna screenshot it. You can skip this if it's too much to read! Also disclaimer that I'm not Korean or asian, so I'm looking at this from an outside perspective, these are just my observations as a long-time fan of BTS and k-pop.

Jimin's actual birthday might be over but ARMY is still celebrating. 22 more donated to #EquityWithJimin in support of women in rural India 😍

13 more hours left in the campaign!

I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

But if you CAN go, this 10/18 #NoKings thing is really a key protest to participate in. Be part of it, friends.
NO KINGS, y'all! October 18! Find a rally near you and GO!

Over 1 million children in Rajasthan drop out of school each year, many due to economic challenges. RSKS India's “Education for Every Girl in India” aims to ease financial burdens by providing school supplies & help motivate families to support their daughters' schooling 🎒📚

That's an extremely specific example, and not what I was discussing. As mentioned elsewhere, this was in response to the idea of 'pavlov training' people with this technique, not briefly walking away from a harmful situation to de-escalate.
In the overall conversation that was the context established by the anecdote about the person 'pavlovian training' their dad by walking out of the room when he crossed a boundary... it seemed obvious to me that the following responses would be based on that original anecdote.
I do still have some qualms about applying this framing to a broader range of social settings (families, politics, public discourse) as was being discussed here. But that's a much broader/deeper discussion and this may not be the place for it (not sure I can put thoughts into words yet anyway).
Thanks for explaining and linking the source, I do think I misunderstood what you were saying – since it was presented in the context of negative reinforcement and targeted ignoring of someone who is 'misbehaving' in an educational setting, I really got the wrong end of the stick!
My apologies if I misunderstood, I was reacting to you saying you are an education researcher, and talking about research from that field. I'll leave this now.

Just to pile on here... I worked with food banks for years. Yes, food donations are good but (as Nicole encourages) MONETARY DONATIONS ARE BEST. Food banks stretch $ on food (fill gaps donations miss etc) really well. Moreover, they need money for operating costs like power and staff wages.
we aren’t going to be able to make up for what they’re stealing from people who need it. but setting up a recurring donation—whatever you can afford—to your local food bank is one of the easiest & most effective ways to help people in your community. find one near you:

the most important thing to remember when you see eugenicists who don’t believe that autistic people should exist rambling about “the autism epidemic” is not that they’re wrong about the “cause” (although they are absolutely wrong about it); it’s that they are eugenicists
